Full job description
Would you like to live and work in one of the most beautiful national parks in the world? Do you have the 'hospitality gene' and a drive to create raving fans with every guest experience... every damn day? Do you know your way around a busy floor and want to help lead one? THEN WE WANT YOU!

Banff Ave Brewing Co. is Banff's original brewpub. We like to think of ourselves as a great restaurant that happens to brew damn good beer. Fresh off a renovation, our second-floor patio now looks straight out at the mountains, and we tell our guests the same thing we will tell you: it is worth the climb to the top (of the stairs). We are looking for a full-time Assistant Manager to join our leadership team, answering to the General Manager and Assistant General Manager and helping run the floor, grow our people, and raise the bar on every guest experience.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Run the floor. Lead day-to-day service, manage labour on shift, and keep FOH and BOH communicating and moving together.
Own the guest experience. Our number one mandate is making every visit better than the last, and you will be the person on the floor making that happen: table touches, service standards, recovery when things go sideways, and coaching the team to do the same.
Oversee opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and reconciliation.
Coordinate events and large parties. With Tripleseat now running our booking process, you will respond to enquiries, build BEOs, prep the venue, and make sure functions land smoothly on the day.
Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and ongoing development of new and existing team members.
Work with the management team to keep the venue safe, welcoming, inclusive, and fun for staff and guests alike.
Build relationships with community partners and local stakeholders, and act as an ambassador for the venue, the brand, and craft beer.
Share beer and food knowledge with the team and our guests. You speak 'beer-anese,' or you are ready to go to beer school with us.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE 'TABLE'

2+ years of supervisory or management experience in a restaurant or pub (preferred).
5 years of hospitality experience. Show us a three plate carry and we are likely convinced.
Personality. We are in hospitality, and it is EVERYTHING. You are the most personable of all your friends, heck maybe in all of the Bow Valley.
Just the right amount of 'geek.' You are detail-oriented, you get event orders done ahead of time, and you follow up with clients without being reminded.
You legitimately LOVE working in a team, and your peers see you as the problem solver: "I can fix this!"
A heaping helping of adaptability. The hospitality industry is constantly evolving, and we are not willing to get left behind (nor should you be).
Experience with Tripleseat, Clover, Wisk, OpenTable, or similar restaurant systems is a plus.
Available for a range of shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, and able to lift up to 30 lbs.
WHAT WE OFFER

$55,000 to $60,000 base salary, plus pooled manager tips, a promo tab, branded merchandise, and more.
Health benefits (after the standard 90-day onboarding period).
Free daily meal plus a weekly allowance in venue, and generous staff discounts across all of our brewpub and distillery concepts.
A genuine work/life balance, continuing learning opportunities, and a welcoming, friendly environment.
The good views. Every shift, from the best patio on Banff Ave.
If you feel you have the skills to contribute to our team and you are up for a challenge, we would love to hear from you. Please direct resumes to the General Manager, Chris: chris@banffavebrewingco.ca

Only candidates with relevant experience will be contacted for an interview. A complete position description will be shared with all interviewed candidates once the posting has closed.

We are only accepting applicants with legal working rights in Canada at this time.

Pay: $52,000.00-$60,000.00 per year

Benefits:

Casual dress
Extended health care
Paid time off
Store discount
Application question(s):

Do you currently have your own accommodation within the Bow Valley?
Do you have current legal working rights within Canada? If you are on a working visa please disclose which one and how long you have remaining.
Work Location: In person
