Full job description
Position: Tire & Lube Technician

Reports to: Operations Manager

Mission

This role is a Tire & Lube Technician within Discover Banff Tours mechanical shop: DJ’s Garage. The primary focus of DJ’s Garage is to service the Discover Banff Tours fleet of vehicles through regular maintenance, inspections, diagnostics and repairs. This is an entry- level position that is essential to ensuring both our staff and guests have a safe and enjoyable experience while out on tour.

General

Discover Banff Tours is a Banff based tour company specializing in personalized, small-group tours. We believe this style of travel best offers people an opportunity to experience the culture, and history of the Canadian Rockies. Having begun operation in 1998 with a single bus, we now operate a fleet of 29 vehicles ranging from GMC Yukons up to Freightliner M2s.

Discover Banff Tours opened a garage for servicing our fleet in June 2017. In March 2018 the shop became licensed and began taking in customer-based business on vehicles of all make and model.

Core responsibilities

Mechanical aptitude: ability to inspect, diagnose, and make basic repairs
Willingness to learn, and take instruction from licensed technicians
Methodical and patient work habits; a keen eye for detail
Flexibility: shifting quickly to and from repair orders based on need
Ability to prioritize cleanliness, tidiness, and organization
Desire to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
Basic record keeping skills (digital annotation of work orders)
Shifts

Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (full time: days may vary)
Other duties

Ordering parts and maintaining parts inventory
Preparing vehicle estimates for customers
Shuttling vehicles to and from the main Discover Banff Tours parking lot
Assisting with minor repairs in other Discover Banff Tours locations
Assisting with administrative, office duties, as required
Other duties as necessary (and when directed by members of the Discover Banff Tours management team)
Key Relationships:

Working alongside licensed automotive technicians
Reporting directly to our Journeyman Mechanic Trevor and the Operations Manager
Requirements:

- Must have a valid Alberta drivers license

- Clean Drivers Abstract

- Physically able to lift up to 75lbs
