Full job description
The Member Advisor will carry out a range of functions to support retail branch operations and support lending services activities. The Member Advisor will have a keen eye for detail, strong organizational and time management skills, and a sterling approach to member service. They will also have a strong awareness of all BVCU products and services.

Member Experience

Creates a positive first impression and model exceptional service delivery at every member interaction to foster the member relationship and their overall financial health
Full-Service Member Advisor Activities

Supports and educates members on their financial health, including use of BVCU’s resources
Completes new membership openings as well as personal/business openings accounts
Discusses and completes investment transactions (registered and non-registered)
Provides current members and potential members with suggested products and services through identifying and analyzing member needs/product and service gaps
Proactively contacts members with investment renewal activities to retain business and support members overall financial health
Retail Credit Activities

Interviews members and provides information on the range of credit products and services to recommend tailored solutions to meet their needs
Inputs and evaluates mortgage applications, including verifying supporting documentation, reviewing, and ensuring accuracy of information in BVCU’s loan system
Provides application decisions or refer applications to management/Lending Services for approval using approved limits
Underwrites new retail loan applications, overdrafts, and simple mortgages/lines of credit
Learns the member life cycle from a credit perspective and identify additional opportunities with members at any point of a member’s financial cycle
Compliance Responsibilities

Ensures all policies and procedures in daily activities, including credit and compliance, to meet safety, legal, and privacy requirements
Diary tracking, monitoring expiries, and all reporting in relation to credit
Teamwork

Participates in a positive work environment that encourages pride, teamwork, and mutual respect
Participates in training and development programs provided by internal and external resources
Actively promotes BVCU’s image within the community through participation in community events and volunteerism and participate in events that are sponsored by BVCU
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
Minimum of a year of retail banking experience; previous DNA experience is an asset
Superior customer service skills with previous sales experience
Good critical thinking, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills; keen attention to detail
Self-starter with the ability to work in team environment with confidential information
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a keen eye for detail
Good investigative skills for uncovering needs for both existing and potential members to support business growth
Proven computer skills, including a working knowledge of MS Office
Committed to continuous learning and development
THE FINE PRINT:

This position is on-site in Banff, Alberta
Working Hours: Monday – Friday 8:45 am to 5:15 pm
Must be bondable and have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
