The Opportunity
The Kitchen at Banff Centre is looking for a Second Cook to prepare distinctive dishes in our dining outlets, conveniently located just steps from the Centre's performance, meeting, and accommodation spaces and boasting an incomparable view of the Rocky Mountains. Our Kitchen Team are creative and inspired professionals, sharing their passion for great food and presentation perfection. Calm and composed while working in a fast-paced environment, the Second Cook works to prepare exceptional and memorable food experiences.

Roles and Responsibilities
Prepare and cook for an assigned station; ensuring the work station and equipment are organized, clean, and sanitary and that all health and safety standards are followed during all stages of food preparation
Communicate effectively with the supervisor to check number of guests, mise en place lists, function sheets and any special dietary needs items to be cooked
Transfer food items from the fridge and/or freezer to work stations and ensure that left-over food is stored properly
Clean and sanitize fridges and freezers to the highest standards
Qualification and Educational Requirements
2 years’ of culinary experience within a high volume restaurant or hotel with emphasis on buffet and large-volume production
Some post-secondary education is required, ideally working towards the completion of a Journeyman Cook’s certificate or Red Seal
Able to take direction, and give direction, in English
Employment Terms & Benefits
In accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, hourly support staff position, subject to a 500-hour probationary period.
This position pays $20.74 per hour, working up to 40 hours a week on a rotating schedule.

Candidates offered a position with the Centre, in this capacity, will be required to obtain a criminal record check verifying a clear record before a final job offer can be finalized.
Visa Requirements: Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Banff Centre is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
