The Opportunity
The Food & Beverage Assistant Manager will support the Food and Beverage Managers in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all food & beverage services within Banff Centre. This includes the Vistas Dining Room, Three Ravens Restaurant & Wine Bar, The Hub Dining Room, Special Functions Rooms, Remote Functions, Room Service, Maclab Bistro and Le Caf é . This position is responsible for directing the daily work of each area, and will assist the Food and Beverage Managers in the hiring, training, scheduling, motivating, development of Food & Beverage employees, and administrative duties.

Roles and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Food and Beverage Manager, below are some key accountabilities:

Direct the daily work of all Food and Beverage employees. The incumbent will be responsible for assessing business levels in all the food and beverage outlets, allocating staff to setup, work, and tear down all functions maintaining effective labor cost control at all times.
Ensure that the banquet functions rooms are set up according to the Banquet Event Orders.
Responsible for the coordination of banquets and special functions with the Kitchen.
Handle special requests, dietary needs, or concerns from guests in a friendly, efficient, and courteous manner, referring these requests or concerns immediately to the Food and Beverage Manager, Director of Food and Beverage, or kitchen staff if unsure or unable to offer assistance.
Responsible for the training of all new employees by providing an orientation and training session to ensure everyone is following policies, standards, and expectations outlined by Banff Centre Hospitality Management. The incumbent will be required to provide on-going training to existing employees in order to meet Banff Centre's standards of excellence and customer service.
Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of all food and beverage areas and equipment.
The incumbent will also be responsible for issuing cash floats to staff and outlets daily. They will ensure that these floats are reconciled and returned at the end of each shift.
Always promote and maintain a high level of employee relations, in conjunction with Banff Centre Policy.
Adhere to Banff Centre's Health & Safety Policies as they relate to a supervisor and understand a supervisor's role in the evacuation procedures of each building.
Enables Food and Beverage staff to always function as a high performing team, maintaining open communication, clear objectives and priorities, and a culture of positive behavioral intent that is consistent and in alignment with Banff Centre values and is welcoming and inclusive, supporting a diverse workforce.
Provides day to day leadership, direction and supervision to direct reports effectively allocating assignments across the Food and Beverage team (oversees workload).
Fosters an internal culture that maintains the highest standards for customer service, excellence of staff, participant and guest experience, and fiscal, operational, and organizational integrity.
Ensures a positive and safe work environment for all Banff employees, aligned with Banff Centre’s policies including but not limited to code of ethics, anti-harassment policies, contractual obligations, and strategic directions.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
Minimum of 3 years food and beverage and supervisory experience.
Knowledge of banquet/meeting set-ups, proper food handling practices, service etiquette, service styles, and excellent customer service are important aspects of this position.
The Food and Beverage Assistant Manager must be familiar with PC based programs and have a good knowledge of Word, Excel, and Point of Sales program applications.
A professional attitude and appearance is essential.
Knowledge of Time & Attendance, ProServe, First Aid, and ASIP are also required.
A valid Alberta driver’s license
Special Requirements
Due to the nature of the job, this position requires the candidate to be available to work a flexible, irregular schedule and weekends.
Employment Terms and Benefits
In accordance with the terms of employment governing Management/PSP employees, this is a salaried, fulltime position, subject to a 6-month probationary period.
