Restaurant Manager

Banff, Alberta | Full-time

The Fat Ox of Banff is an Alpine Italian restaurant built around great food, handcrafted cocktails, warm hospitality, and a lively dining room. We’re looking for a hands-on Restaurant Manager who takes pride in leading a team and delivering a guest experience people come back for.

You’ll work alongside our General Manager to lead daily operations, develop our team, and help grow the business. We need someone who notices the details, takes initiative, and follows through. Someone who can run a busy service, coach in the moment, and hold standards consistently.

Applicants must currently live in the Bow Valley and have their own accommodation. Staff housing is not provided.

What You’ll Do

Lead from the floor

Spend approximately 80% of your leadership time on the floor, supporting the team and connecting with guests.
Lead service with confidence, keeping the dining room organized and the team focused.
Actively manage service timing, table turns, music, lighting, cleanliness, and presentation.
Handle guest concerns professionally and follow through on the outcome.
Uphold standards for food, beverages, service, and staff appearance every shift.
Build a stronger team

Train and coach staff on service, menu knowledge, wine, cocktails, and thoughtful recommendations.
Run focused pre-shift meetings with clear priorities.
Set expectations, recognize strong performance, and address issues promptly.
Maintain clear communication between the floor, bar, kitchen, and management.
Help develop staff who are ready to take on more responsibility.
Own results and follow-through

Support the General Manager in achieving sales, labour, and guest experience targets.
Assist with scheduling, staffing levels, floor plans, and daily operating decisions.
Review performance and identify opportunities to improve check averages, cover counts, and repeat visits.
Complete clear shift logouts and follow through on weekly goals.
Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and bring solutions when something needs attention.
Help grow the business

Support brunch, happy hour, group bookings, and private events.
Build relationships with local guests, hotels, and concierges.
Work with our events team to deliver well-organized functions.
Bring practical ideas to attract guests during quieter days and periods.
What You Bring

At least two years of management experience in a busy, full-service restaurant.
A strong floor presence and the ability to lead calmly under pressure.
Clear communication, sound judgment, and a consistent approach to accountability.
Experience coaching staff and improving service standards.
Confidence with POS systems, scheduling tools, and restaurant performance numbers.
A passion for food, wine, cocktails, and hospitality.
Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Current Bow Valley residency and your own accommodation.
What We Offer

Competitive salary based on experience.
Tip-out participation.
Staff discounts.
Opportunities to grow within Creative Restaurants Group.
The opportunity to help shape a restaurant and team in the heart of Banff.
Apply

Send your résumé and a short note telling us about your leadership experience and why you’d be a strong fit for The Fat Ox. Please confirm where you currently live and that you have accommodation in the Bow Valley.
