Job Description

Fairmont Spa at The Fairmont Banff Springs is at the forefront of the spa industry, offering first-class pampering surrounded by majestic mountain beauty. Our environment captures the spirit and ambience of the mountains and reflects the image and elegance of The Fairmont Banff Springs.

The Assistant Spa Director is responsible for the daily leadership of spa operations including guest service, cleanliness and colleague engagement.

Competitive Salary: $75,000-$80,000 gross annually, based on previous experience & education

Job Duties Include:

Reporting to the Spa Director, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Offer support and supervision for all spa departments as required including; Body Technicians, Salon and Aesthetics, Boutique, Reservations, Reception, Facility Operations and Fitness
Lead the Spa in establishing and executing departmental goals.
Direct operations of the facility, including short and long range strategic planning for spa operations.
Take a leading role in resolving any and all guest concerns by role modeling professional service delivery.
Conduct development and performance management discussions as required.
Manage, train, and motivate all colleagues reporting to this position.
Serve as a link between the hotel and the spa industry by maintaining thorough knowledge of competitors, including location, product offering, pricing, promotions and sales techniques.
Ensure effective scheduling of all spa colleagues while managing productivity and guest service.
Implement effective staff training plans for all areas of spa operations.
Ensure effective and timely communication among all spa departments and throughout the Hotel through weekly/monthly departmental communication meetings.
Support adherence of standard operating procedures and policies for each department.
Manage the recruitment, development and training of all departments.
Create a visual presence within department for all spa staff via regular facility walk-throughs.
Role model all safety procedures and practices for spa colleagues.
Have complete understanding of and adhere to all company policies and rules including those relating to Fire, Hygiene and Safety
Assist in the development of departmental emergency procedures.
Review daily productivity and approve payroll.
Assist leaders in establishing short and long term goals and review status of each goal on a monthly basis.
Ensure the facility is in peak condition at all times.
Carry out any other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Your Skills & Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an Assistant Manager or Department Head position in a luxury resort spa or related field is required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Hospitality/Spa Management an asset.
Experience in the hospitality industry an asset.
Human resources experience an asset.
Previous experience is an asset.
Standing and walking throughout shift - 50% of time
Sitting at a desk, computer work – 50% of time
