Full job description
We are looking for a skilled Commercial HVAC - Refrigeration Technician to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems. You will be responsible for ensuring that all HVAC and refrigeration units are operating efficiently and effectively, diagnosing issues, and performing necessary repairs. This role requires a strong understanding of commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems, excellent problem solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Safety is a top priority, and you must adhere to all safety protocols and regulations. Additionally, you will be expected to keep detailed records of all work performed and parts used.

Starting Rate: $40.96 per hour

Compensation will increase every year on September 1st. As of September 1, 2026, the rate of pay for this position will be $42.18.

Job Duties Include:

Reporting to the Director or Assistant Director of Engineering, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Maintain and repair refrigeration systems, including diagnosing issues, performing routine and emergency repairs, replacing parts, testing for leaks, and calibrating for optimal performance.
Follow company policies and safety standards, properly dispose of hazardous materials, and keep detailed records and logs.
Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams, order and manage parts inventory, and collaborate with other departments as needed.
Communicate issues and solutions clearly, work independently or with a team, and answer radio calls.
Provide professional, timely, and knowledgeable service to internal and external guests while completing tasks efficiently and accurately.
Qualifications

Your Skills & Qualifications:

Red Seal Certification in refrigeration or HVAC technology required
Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial refrigeration.
Strong understanding of refrigeration systems, components, and safety regulations.
Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and blueprints.
Proficiency with tools, diagnostic equipment, and computer-based troubleshooting
Knowledge of Hussman systems (an asset).
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various environments.
Previous hotel experience (an asset).
