Full job description
Full-Time, Term Contract
This role is the starting point in Recreation Facility Maintenance. However, don't be misled, it's more than just handling mops and brooms. You'll be the superhero of custodial duties and guest relations, maintaining the facility's appearance, and performing minor general repairs. Your keen attention to detail will help “Take Care of Banff” by maintaining the immaculate condition of The Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre. This is a highly visible role, so prepare to be in the limelight! You'll be interacting with users and visitors, engaging in discussions about the facility. The role is dedicated to providing a positive experience for all visitors, whether they're spectators or simply using the washroom.

Your previous work experience has helped you become a person-of-all trades and will allow you to excel in the custodial, ice/arena functions and general building operations of this position. Your knowledge and expertise of cleaning products and equipment will allow you to move swiftly and effectively from cleaning changing rooms to snow removal to operation and maintenance of all associated equipment. You are eager to learn and can put your thirst for knowledge to the test as you learn more about the Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre including monitoring and recording of ice/plant instruments and care and operation of ice resurfacing (now’s your chance to drive a Zamboni).

The Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre is a seven-day-a-week operation with morning and evening shifts, you’ll be the face that greets the early morning training sessions and bids good day to the late-night hockey players. Your confidence and eye for detail can help solve problems when something is needed by a visitor or even a distressed bride (yes, the Fenlands even hosts weddings!). You can provide a valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License and clear RCMP Criminal Record Check upon hire. Bonus points will be given to those who hold valid Standard First Aid Certification, AARFP Arena Operator course (or equivalent) and experience using and operating light/small equipment and power tools.
