Building Services Worker - Custodial (Evening Shift)
This position is for an evening shift that will work from 7:00 pm to 3:00 am. This position will be starting mid-January, 2025.

The Opportunity
Banff Centre is looking for a Building Services Worker to perform essential front line custodial services and care-taking duties, ensuring a high quality environment for all of the public and office areas inside buildings across campus.

Roles and Responsibilities
Building Services Workers may be assigned care-taking or custodial service duties in classrooms, halls, lobbies, lounges, gyms, locker rooms, public washrooms, offices, kitchens and dining rooms. Examples of duties required include:

Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors
Dusting and sanitizing counter tops and tables
Washing windows and window ledges
Cleaning public toilets, sinks, showers, and change-rooms
Emptying garbage and collecting recyclables
Building Services Workers may be asked to perform occasional heavy lifting and may also be required to use various cleaning chemicals. Personal protective equipment will be provided.

Qualification and Educational Requirements
A good understanding of general cleaning practices and how to apply them
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
Requires minimal direction beyond initial training and assignment of daily responsibilities
Demonstrates sound prioritizing skills, as daily tasks will vary and fluctuate depending on the activities on campus
Possesses excellent interpersonal communication skills, as this position is in contact with clients and fellow staff members
Completes work to a high standard, with keen attention to detail
Physically fit and capable of lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds
Special Requirements
Due to the nature of the job, this position requires the candidate to be available to work a rotating schedule. Depending on business needs, days off per week may not be the same from one week to the next and may not be consecutive.
Employment Terms & Benefits
In accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, hourly support staff position, subject to a 500 hour probationary period.
This position pays $18.64 per hour, working up to 37.5 hours per week on a rotating schedule.
