Description
Dishwashers perform important work to assist teams that prepare and serve food and beverages. They focus on sanitation and safety, maintaining an available supply of clean tableware and cookware in this vital and at times, fast-paced and demanding role. Dishwashers report to Back of House managerial and supervisory staff and work closely with everyone in designated food service environments.
Essential Functions
Maintain highest standards of cleanliness in all areas of assigned kitchen outlets.
Washing, cleaning (may at times include scouring and polishing) and sanitizing dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, pans, by dishwasher or by hand, in a thorough and consistent manner throughout shifts.
Put dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans away neatly in storage areas.
Additional cleaning tasks, including daily cleaning of screen, weekly full empty of grease traps, fridge, freezer, kitchen surfaces and other equipment as directed by Supervisor(s) or designates.
Administrative: following policies and Sunshine standards, adhering to workplace safety and food safety regulations. Conducting regular inspections and completing logs to ensure proper chemical levels. Reporting any unusual operating conditions, timely and accurate incident reporting.
This role may occasionally perform food preparations as directed by Supervisor(s) or designate(s).
Other duties may be added and assigned from time to time.
Experience/Requirements
1-2 years’ experience in a food service establishment is preferred.
Knowledge of basic safety requirements and food handling safety standards.
Safety and WHMIS training are an asset.
Self-motivator with a positive, professional, fun attitude.
Excellent time management, organization, and teamwork skills.
Additional Considerations:
Employees must always be of sound mind, exhibit good judgment, and report to work fit for duty.
This is primarily an indoor position, but is in a remote, winter, alpine environment. Employees must wear appropriate footwear for a kitchen environment, and layers for the conditions. Some uniform pieces are provided.
This is a physically demanding position that requires working at high altitude, standing for long periods of time, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and frequent manual handling of items and heavy loads around 10 kgs. A good level of fitness is required.
This role is subject to all terms and conditions of the Sunshine Village Employee Handbook, Policy Manual, and the Alberta Employment Standards Code.
