Maintenance Technician

The Banff Hospitality Collective Maintenance Technician reports directly to the Director of Projects and works closely with the Maintenance Coordinator and Employee Housing team to ensure all BHC venues and staff housing units are in tip-top shape inside and out. This is a dynamic role that includes emergency maintenance, preventative maintenance and small to medium-sized capital project support. On any given day you could be working in a large multi-restaurant building, small family home or anything in-between; drywalling and painting, fixing a clog or leak, changing a lock or light fixture, moving furniture or troubleshooting appliance breakdowns.

What You’ll Do:

Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of all building mechanical systems (i.e., pumps, life safety systems, HVAC, and other systems depending on the specific property)
Perform regular interior and exterior site inspections
Verify that all maintenance records, files, and documentation are maintained accurately and timely and in accordance with established procedures
Ensure completion of maintenance repairs on a timely basis including inside units, common spaces, mechanical rooms and the exterior of the properties
Ensure resident satisfaction and safety following priority guidelines
Complete regular landscaping as needed and ensure all exterior areas including roadway and walkways are free of dirt, debris, ice, and snow
Maintain spare furniture and appliance inventory and move furniture and appliances between units to ensure optimum capacities are achieved
Ensure completion of general maintenance in parking garages/lots, mechanical rooms, on rooftops and in other common areas
Completion of minor suite renovations or upgrade work including painting and general carpentry
Accompany all vendors and contractors in resident suites at all times and ensure everyone is complying with OH&S protocols
Ensure all tools and cleaning equipment are maintained and serviced regularly
Assist with onsite management of capital projects, execution of the capital plan, and identifying issues for current or future repair
Acting as a BHC brand ambassador toward our coworkers, vendors and contractors, and to the public
Perform other duties as required
What You Have:

Two to six years of experience in some of the following areas: building operations, mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, carpentry, drywalling etc.
Strong communication skills; ability to communicate with co-workers and management effectively and professionally, both oral and written
Superior ability to foster and develop cooperating working relationships with staff, and contractor
Excellent organizational skills and knowledge in work identification and prioritization, planning, and scheduling
Familiarity with smartphone and tablet technology
Must be able to lift 25 kilograms
Must have a valid driver’s license
