Job Description

To ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Engineering Department, achieving maximum employee job satisfaction and guest satisfaction while adhering to the standards required by the Hotel.

Job Duties Include:

Consistently offer professional, friendly, and engaging service
Follow departmental policies, procedures, and service standards
Maintain a proficient knowledge of the task checklist
Monitor and maintain mechanical equipment operation
Conduct rounds of the specified area, including light
Daily system check when assigned
Respond to and rectify the guest room request
Respond to and rectify staff housing requests as needed
Conducts preventative maintenance as scheduled by the Engineering Department
Maintain good working relationships with colleagues and other department
Perform preventive repairs, retrofits, or other task as assigned by the chief engineer in a safe and efficient manner
Active member of the Emergency Response Team
Contribute to the successful operation of the department in an innovative and supportive manner
Must be available in the event of an emergency
Experience with the HVAC system and associated preventive maintenance
Able to perform minor plumbing, mechanical, and electrical repairs
Ensure all work orders assigned will be done with the least possible delay, especially where guest comfort is concerned
Assist other trades as required
Ability to maintain a positive and objective outlook in challenging situations
Ability to lead by example with a consistently high standard of performance
Accept accountability for actions taken during the performance of these duties
Adhere to the hotel’s vehicle handling and safety policies while driving hotel vehicles
Adhere to all safety protocols as defined by Occupational Health and Safety and Trade
Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures, and report any safety hazards or incidents immediately
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, overnights, rotating shifts, extended hours, and being available for emergencies
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Your Skills & Qualifications :

Previous maintenance experience in areas such as painting, plumbing, tiling, and carpentry across a large commercial building or similar is preferred
Minimum Grade 12 education
Building operator certificate or maintenance technician is an asset
Minimum 5 years’ experience in maintenance and repairs
Valid Canadian’s driver's license
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Highly organized and decisive, with the ability to handle multiple projects under deadlines and changing priorities
Computer knowledge in energy management and building automation software programs
Motivated by the opportunity to improve skills in all building management functions. These include trade skills, all related codes, and new or innovative methods of improving the efficiency and operation of the building
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and problem solving abilities
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team with minimum supervision
Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
Manual dexterity and physical ability to lift up to 25 kg
