Full job description
Banff Trail Riders is located in the townsite of Banff, offering guided horseback tours from 1 hour to 6 days. We are a very active tourist business with several components that make up the overall company. Because of the diversity of the company, we can offer a great variety of products to our visitors, as well as a variety of job opportunities.

Whether you are craving a summer of adventure, are looking to improve your horsemanship skills or a combination of both while making life long friends and memories, Banff Trail Riders is the place for you!

Backcountry cooks at Banff Trail Riders have the chance to live remotely at our lodges, located 16km and 30km from the Banff townsite, respectively. This is a cook/caretaker role that requires individuals to provide daily meals for the guests arriving/departing on horseback. You are encouraged to take ownership of these lodges and be the welcoming host for staff and customers alike. During the day, housekeeping (changing bed linens) and caretaking (building upkeep as required) will be necessary. There is no vehicle access to these remote locations, so an interest in riding will help you enjoy the role even more- though experience is preferred, it is not a requirement.

This position will require you to:

Prepare and cook meals for guests in remote Backcountry locations.
Cleaning, and general upkeep of lodge. Turnover of guest rooms.
Order, manage and keep inventory of groceries and supplies.
Riding horseback to and from relevant locations. (Up to 6 hours)
Interact with guests in a fun professional manner.
Live and work within a remote and unconventional setting.
Qualifications:

Horseback riding experience preferred, but not required.(You must be comfortable working with/riding and being around horses/mules)
Cooking experience.
Customer service experience.
Food Safe and Pro Serve certified required.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work well with others and independently.
Takes initiative and safety conscious at all times.
An interest in the western and/or remote living lifestyle.
Valid first aid required.
*Position starts May/June-Early October*

Limited staff accommodation is available upon request in the Banff town-site.
