Housekeeping Supervisor

The Opportunity
The Housekeeping and Custodial Department of the Banff Centre is looking for an experienced Supervisor to oversee the cleanliness of rooms in guest residences and public areas throughout the Centre. A positive and encouraging motivator, the Supervisor coaches and evaluates the Room Attendants, Housekeeping Floaters, Building Services Workers and Special Projects in their performance and productivity. The Supervisor is a clear communicator with a proven ability to lead others.

Specific Accountabilities
Reporting to the Executive Housekeeper, below are some key accountabilities:

Organizing and planning the workday for the Room Attendants and Building Services Workers including preparing worksheets and completing required daily housekeeping reports
Training new employees and providing continuous feedback, coaching, and performance management of existing employees
Supervising the work of Housekeeping and Custodial Department staff and assisting with cleaning when required
Inspecting guest rooms and public areas of selected buildings
Acting as a liaison between the Housekeeping office and other departments, responding to guest/client questions
Coordinating and following-up on maintenance work with the Physical Facilities Department
Performing inventory control of linens and cleaning supplies
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
Two years' experience working as a room attendant or custodian and an excellent practical knowledge of general cleaning
Proven previous experience leading a team of people
Physically fit and capable of lifting and carrying up to fifty pounds
Comfortable working with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; Visual One hotel software experience is an asset
Can relate politely and courteously to all customers
Available to work weekends

In accordance with the terms of employment governing Management/PSP employees, this is a permanent, full time position, subject to a 6 month probationary period working 40 hours per week.
The successful candidate will enjoy twenty paid vacation days and four personal days annually, extended medical and dental benefits, and participation in an employer-matched pension plan.
