Duties
To daily operate a vacuum truck in the removal of wastes from pit privies, dump stations, holding tanks, occasional special tasks and to safely load and unload truck contents. Perform daily maintenance and cleaning of truck and parking bay. Prepare reports, troubleshoot, estimate time and execute maintenance plans under the supervision of the Water/Wastewater Technical Service Co-ordinator. Perform semi-skilled labour in the maintenance and repair of buildings and facilities in the Banff National Park, and to assist trades in accomplishing this work. Perform snow removal in winter operations.

Possession of valid Class 3 driver’s license with air brake Q endorsement

Proof of valid Class 3 driver’s license with air brake Q endorsement will be required at time of interview.
Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE IN:

Providing daily maintenance and checks to class 3 vehicles;
Operation of class 3 vehicle;
Safe practices in operation of Class 3 vehicle in small areas and around the public;
Keeping records and following schedules.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:

The following qualifications may be applied and/or assessed because they are beneficial in carrying out the duties of the position. They may be used in screening, assessment or determining right fit for this selection process, so please describe how you meet any of the following criteria.

Copies of current certification will be required at time of interview.

Experience in operation of a hydro-vac, vacuum truck, or residential or commercial septic system pumping.
Confine space entry training.
Experience working with wastewater or the handling or transportation hazardous materials.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Willing and able to work weekends, shift work, statutory holidays and overtime, if required;
Willing and able to travel and work in a variety of climatic and geographical conditions to various work sites;
Willing and able to perform heavy physical tasks & lift up to 50 lbs.
Conditions of employment

Obtain and maintain a reliability security clearance;
Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver’s License (Class 3);
Required to undergo and pass pre-placement and periodic medical checks;
Willing and able to wear identifier clothing and safety equipment and follow safety procedures.
