What can you expect?

Servers are essential in providing exceptional service to guests in our restaurants and during banquet events. The ideal candidate will have a passion for mixology, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to create memorable experiences for our guests. Servers work under the supervision of the F&B Supervisor and Manager, or designate, and closely with all culinary and distribution departments at Sunshine.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Service:
Greet guests promptly and courteously, providing menus and drink lists.
Take accurate food and beverage orders, answering any questions and making recommendations as needed.
Serve food and drinks promptly, ensuring orders are accurate and meet our quality standards.

Dining Experience:
Monitor guest satisfaction, addressing any concerns or special requests in a professional manner.
Maintain knowledge of menu items, including ingredients, preparation methods, and potential allergens.
Upsell additional menu items such as appetizers, desserts, and beverages to enhance the dining experience.

Table Management:
Set up tables with appropriate settings and ensure a clean, welcoming environment.
Clear and reset tables promptly to accommodate new guests.
Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the dining area.

Banquet Service:
Assist with the setup, service, and breakdown of banquet events, ensuring guest needs are met.
Follow specific instructions for each event, including menu variations and special arrangements.
Collaborate with the banquet team to provide seamless and efficient service during events.

Team Collaboration:
Work closely with kitchen staff and other servers to ensure timely and accurate service.
Participate in pre-shift meetings to review daily specials, menu changes, and any special instructions.
Support colleagues during peak periods and provide assistance as needed to maintain smooth operations.

Compliance and Safety:
Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines, including proper handling of food and beverages.
Follow all hotel policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with local and state regulations.
Monitor and report any maintenance or safety issues to the manager.

Administrative and Reporting Responsibilities

Timely and accurate incident and deficiencies reporting.
Completing all training documentation.
Effective, professional, and responsible cash handling.

Other duties may be requested and assigned from time to time.

Requirements:
Proven experience as a Server in a high-volume restaurant, bar, or hotel environment.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbally.
Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in using point-of-sale (POS) systems for order taking and payment processing.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Maintain professional conduct when in uniform, on or off-duty, and online.
Effectively provide support and assistance to coworkers.
Certification in ProServe is required.
High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in hospitality or bartending is a plus.

Additional Considerations

Employees must always be of sound mind, exhibit good judgment, and report to work fit for duty.
This position works at high altitude and at times, in inclement weather. Prolonged periods of standing, repetitive motions, bending and twisting is required.
Some required uniform pieces are provided.

This role is subject to all terms and conditions of the Sunshine Village Employee Handbook and Policy Manual, and the Alberta Employment Standards Code.
