Job Description Lead Hand - Maintenance Person The lead hand maintenance person oversees the day to day activities for all maintenance workers, with a particular emphasis on providing weekend coverage and accommodating shift work as needed. What is in it for you: Subsidized staff accommodation provided on-site for full time status employees One complimentary meal per shift in our staff cafeteria (additional meals can be purchased for $4/meal) Comprehensive benefits package (Medical, Vision & Dental) including extended benefits like; Mental Health (up to $5,000/year), Orthodontics (up to $2,500 - lifetime), Fertility Drugs and Gender Affirmation (Lifetime maximum of $10,000) for full time permanent status employees Defined Contribution Pension Plan with employer matching up to 5% of annual earnings for full time permanent status employees Employee travel program with discounts on room rates as well as on food & beverage at Fairmont & Accor properties world-wide Access to the Mountain Explorer Travel Program – exclusive room rates for colleagues, which includes 50% off all food & beverage when staying at Fairmont Resorts in Lake Louise, Jasper & Whistler (subject to availability) Comprehensive wellness platform for employee mental health and wellbeing support Discounts while using our resort’s Food & Beverage Outlets, Fitness Centre, Spa and Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Courses Automatically added to our resort’s Colleague Lifestyle Program which includes access to staff activities and events Opportunity to develop your talent and grow within Fairmont Banff Springs and over 5,000 properties with Accor What you will be doing: Reporting to the chief engineer, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: Organize maintenance activities at Banff Spring Hotel and the staff accommodation buildings Train maintenance employees to perform maintenance activities while following safe work practices Review work orders, prioritize work and assign work to maintenance workers Update, revise and create new work orders Prepare daily and weekly job plans for maintenance workers Coordinate maintenance activities with other hotel departments Audit work performed by maintenance workers to ensure the work is completed to hotel standards and expectations Ensure maintenance workers are performing work safely and have the necessary tools and equipment to perform the work Manage and order part/tool/equipment inventories Lead morning toolbox meetings with the maintenance team Record data and document information Interact with hotel guests, employees, and contractors Consistently offer professional, friendly, and engaging service Follow departmental policies, procedures, and service standards Maintain a proficient knowledge of the task checklist Monitor and maintain mechanical equipment operation Daily system check when assigned Respond to and rectify the guest room request Respond to and rectify staff housing requests as needed Maintain good working relationships with colleagues and other department Perform preventive repairs, retrofits, or other task as assigned by the chief engineer in a safe and efficient manner Active member of the Emergency Response Team Contribute to the successful operation of the department in an innovative and supportive manner Must be available in the event of an emergency Ensure all work orders assigned will be done with the least possible delay, especially where guest comfort is concerned Assist other trades as required Ability to maintain a positive and objective outlook in challenging situations Ability to lead by example with a consistently high standard of performance Accept accountability for actions taken during the performance of these duties Adhere to the hotel’s vehicle handling and safety policies while driving hotel vehicles Adhere to all safety protocols as defined by Occupational Health and Safety and Trade Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures, and report any safety hazards or incidents immediately Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, overnights, rotating shifts, extended hours, and being available for emergencies Other duties as assigned Qualifications Your experience and skills include: Experienced maintenance team supervisor Minimum Grade 12 education Building operator certificate or maintenance technician is an asset Minimum 5 years’ experience in maintenance and repairs Valid Canadian’s driver's license Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a team Highly organized and decisive, with the ability to handle multiple projects under deadlines and changing priorities Computer knowledge in energy management and building automation software programs Motivated by the opportunity to improve skills in all building management functions. These include trade skills, all related codes, and new or innovative methods of improving the efficiency and operation of the building Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and problem solving abilities Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team with minimum supervision Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times Manual dexterity and physical ability to lift up to 25 kg Additional Information Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
