This is an opportunity to work in a stunning national park setting, while “Taking Care of Banff” by keeping green spaces and the Town as beautiful as its natural surroundings.

Position Overview:

As a summer seasonal laborer, your duties will include:

Taking care of public green spaces, Recreation Grounds, playgrounds, and cemeteries
Mowing and trimming grass
Weeding and litter picking
Special events equipment delivery, including set up and tear down
Other maintenance functions necessary to keep our public spaces and parks in the best possible condition for our residents’ and visitors’ enjoyment

Contracts will commence July 23rd running until the end of September or October depending on the candidate. Municipal Parks operates seven days a week on a compressed schedule. Working four 10-hour shifts (6am-4pm) a week will leave you 3 days off each week to enjoy all that summer in Banff has to offer. We are looking for individuals to work Monday to Thursday shifts.

Qualifications and Attributes:

Experience driving vehicles up to a one-ton classification
Work experience in grounds and/or landscaping is an asset
Knowledge of workplace safety programs
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including heavy lifting, carrying, and long periods of walking, standing, and working in all weather conditions
Valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license
A current and clean driver’s abstract (required on employment start date)
Experience with irrigation system maintenance would be an asset
The rate of pay is between $20.00/hour and $23.00/hour depending on experience. When you complete the term of your contract, in its entirety, you will be awarded a $1.00 per hour bonus (to be paid on your final pay cheque) for each regular hour worked.
