Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Housekeeping, the Assistant Director is responsible for leading, coaching, and inspiring a Housekeeping Team of approximately 185 people in our 757-room hotel. We are looking for someone with a passion for people and a relentless commitment to ensure the highest levels of satisfaction for both our guests and colleagues.

Job Duties Include:

Establish goals, measurements and results for the department along with the Director of Housekeeping
Promote high morale through recognition and removal of identified barriers
Organize and participate in colleague recognition events
Responsible for coaching, developing and managing the performance of the Housekeeping team
Plan and organize all deep cleaning cycles and projects relating to guest rooms and public areas
Track and address all guest comments and concerns
Monitor labor costs while ensuring effective resource scheduling, vacation planning and department productivity
Provide necessary resources, functional tools and equipment to get the job done
Effective everyday communications, including performance management
Ensure a safe work environment is maintained at all times and that all colleagues are committed to working safely
Monitor/revise as needed, departmental health & safety tools including ALLSAFE, WCB & WHMIS training programs, policies and practices
Enhance and monitor department environmental initiatives and recycling programs
Effective and timely interaction with all hotel departments
Communicate effectively with the Maintenance department regarding guest rooms and public areas
Adhere to all hotel environmental policies, programs and initiatives
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

Proven ability to successfully lead and motivate a large team
Highly organized with a proactive approach to getting the job done
Proven ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced, team-based environment
Minimum 2-3 years of experience at a Supervisory or Manager level within the Housekeeping or Front Office in a luxury hotel
Computer literate in Property Manager and Microsoft Window applications is required
Experience with Hotsos program would be an asset
University degree or college diploma in hospitality management is an asset
Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
