This position is part time. The Bow Valley Adult Learning Centre currently provides classes Monday -Thursday in the late afternoon/ evening for our English Language Learners in Banff and Canmore. Our year runs from July 1 - June 30 and we offer six terms per year. Each term is six weeks. Our next classes start July 15.

Our instructors are paid for a half-hour of prep time for each hour of instructional time. Our classes are two hours in length. Therefore, for a two hour class, instructors are paid for three hours.

We value diversity and inclusion! English does not need to be the successful candidates first language. This position is part-time/permanent; and we encourage working holiday visa holders that have TESOL (or equivalent) certification to apply. We offer ongoing professional development for all employees.

Duties:

-Prepare a syllabus for each term of instruction

- Plan and deliver English language lessons to students of various proficiency levels; Beginner (CLB 2-4) and Intermediate (CLB 4-7).
- Create engaging and interactive lesson plans that incorporate listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills focusing on daily living in the Bow Valley including workplace language.

- Adapt instructional methods and materials to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Use a variety of instructional techniques, including group work, pair work, and individual activities.
- Incorporate technology into the classroom to enhance learning experiences.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of attendance

-Follow Knowles' Principles of Adult Learning

-Complete an Instructor report at the end of each term

Experience:

- Previous experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) is preferred.
- Familiarity with different teaching methodologies and resources for ESL learners.
- Experience working with adult learners is preferred.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively engage learners in the learning process.
- A passion for life-long learning and a desire to help learners succeed.
