Front of House Usher (Casual)

The Opportunity

The Usher assists the Audience Services team by handling general Front of House duties and engaging patrons at performances, public events, and conferences. The Front of House Usher (Casual) position is a visible and important aspect of the Banff Centre’s ability to deliver a world-class audience experience during scheduled events.

Roles and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Supervisor, Audience Sales and Services, below are some key accountabilities:

Following admittance policies and controlling entry to the venues by taking tickets, scanning tickets, handing out programs, helping patrons locate their seats, managing latecomers, etc.
Helping patrons who have purchased / require accessible seating.
Monitoring patrons during events and responding to any problems and emergency situations.
Helping to ensure a positive and safe environment.
Engaging with and welcoming patrons to performances, handling general questions, and providing information about events and the Banff Centre.
Checking venues after events for possible lost articles and assisting in closing the venue.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
Superior customer service / experience skills and a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
The flexibility to work different shifts during the daytime, evenings, and weekends.
The desire and ability to work in a team, alongside Box Office, Food and Beverage, Security, Production and Hospitality staff.
The ability to problem-solve and handle patron complaints and concerns in a clear and courteous manner.
Have a working knowledge of First Aid.
Have a thorough working knowledge of all Banff Centre and theatre venue emergency procedures.
Have a thorough understanding of Banff Centre departments and services.
Comfortable using a smartphone for the purpose of scanning tickets
Able to lift up to 25 pounds intermittently.
Able to stand for 1 hour
Cash handling skills.
Special Requirements
Due to the nature of the job, this position requires the candidate to be available to work a flexible, irregular schedule and weekends.
Employment Terms and Benefits
In accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, casual support staff position, working up to 35 hours per month on an on-call basis.
This position pays $16.64 per hour.
To be considered, you must live in the Bow Valley. This position is not eligible for staff housing.
