Planning & Environment Town of Banff Banff, AB $25 an hour - Full-time, Part-time, Internship / Co-op, Fixed term contract Job details No matching job preferences Salary $25 an hour Job type Full-time Part-time Internship / Co-op Fixed term contract Part-Time (28 hours/week), Term Contract The Town of Banff is seeking a skilled, organized, creative, hard-working, and highly motivated recent graduate to support the Planning and Environment Department with heritage planning projects over the Fall of 2023 and Winter of 2024. As a member of our team, the Heritage Planning Intern will “Take Care of Banff” by working to conserve and celebrate built and cultural heritage in Banff while respecting the requirements of Federal and Provincial Legislation as well as the direction provided in the Banff Heritage Resource Management Policy. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to research, reporting and presentation of information to internal and external stakeholders. Your work will support greater understanding and policy development relating to cultural and built heritage within the townsite, including assisting in the development of and implementation of a Heritage Resource Action Plan. The successful candidate will apply their understanding of heritage conservation, architectural history, and community engagement to these assignments over a 27-week period and it is anticipated that the successful candidate will be working four days per week (28 hours per week). The successful candidate will enjoy design thinking and critical investigations of social, cultural, and environmental issues as they relate to the conservation of local heritage. They will also have a post-secondary education from a recognized Heritage Conversation, Urban Planning, Architecture, Environmental Studies, or similar program. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is essential and experience in heritage planning, report writing, and research skills will be considered an asset. Young Canada Works Internship Eligibility Criteria This position is a partnership between the Town of Banff and the Government of Canada Young Canada Works Building Careers in Heritage program. All applicants must meet the following criteria established by Young Canada Works: are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible) are legally entitled to work in Canada are between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment meet the specific eligibility criteria of the program to which you apply be registered in the Young Canada Works online candidate inventory are willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment will not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week) while employed with the program are unemployed or underemployed are a college or university graduate; and are not receiving Employment Insurance (EI) benefits while employed with the program.
