Town of Banff 110 Bear St, Banff, AB Full-time Town of Banff 110 Bear St, Banff, AB Job details Job type Full-time Location 110 Bear St, Banff, AB Full job description Full-Time, Term The Resource Recovery Labourer is a cross-functional position that “Takes Care of Banff” by ensuring appropriate sorting and organizing of recyclables and Re-Use-It items. On any given day you are exposed to new and varying tasks, equipment, and work locations, as well as diverse interactions with Town colleagues and Banff’s business owners, residents, and visitors. This position provides exposure to the operation of a variety of equipment, tools, vehicles, and containers, requiring you to exercise judgement and experience. A keen eye that can access the status and maintenance needs of the operation yard, the appropriate sorting of miscellaneous items, and the standards of maintenance of areas allocated according to the needs of all departments. You will be required to assist your co-worker with customer service at the Scale house (must be familiar with use of computers, possessing keyboard accuracy and speed), collection of residential and non-residential waste, provide services to our downtown and pedestrian locations or pick-up large, unwanted items which suits your desire for workplace variety and natural tendency to teamwork. You have a valid Class 5 Alberta Operator’s license and will need to provide a clear Driver’s Abstract on hire. Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook software are an asset. You have demonstrated experience with WHIMIS legislation and operating a light duty truck and similar equipment. You can meet the physical demands of this position which include pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50-100lbs, extensive walking and climbing on and off collection trucks, working in extreme weather conditions, dealing with strong odors and have the stamina to work at a steady pace throughout a full shift. The Resource Recovery department operates seven days a week, year-round and shifts may vary.
