What will you do in this job?:
As a Heavy Duty Mechanic at the Banff Shop, you will contribute to making the Transportation and BJC fleet as safe as possible for our guests. As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, our #1 Core value of Safety 1st starts with you, in ensuring the mechanical fitness of our motorcoaches, heavy equipment and light vehicle fleet.

This is a multi-faceted position and can include any, or all, of the following:

Safety 1st! Ensure to follow adequate and proper safety procedures when performing any duties
Perform preventative maintenance
Diagnose equipment problems and determine repairs as needed
Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts
Test repaired equipment for proper performance
Service attachments and working tools
Maintain a clean and tidy work area and assist with cleaning duties in working environment
Maintain daily record of all works orders, part orders and other administrative tasks
Demonstrate continuous efforts to improve operations, decrease downtime and improve processes
Assist in training apprentice mechanics in the trade
Support colleagues and co-workers in their duties
Act as a coach and subject matter expert when it comes to everything vehicles
What skills and experience do you need for this job?:
Valid Alberta (or inter-provincial) Registered Apprentice or Heavy Duty Mechanic Journeyman certification
CVIP license for Alberta is an asset
Experience troubleshooting and diagnostics on Detroit Diesel, CAT, Cummins, MTU, Volvo and Allison, 2F engines/transmissions
Familiar with MCI & Prevost highway coaches an asset
Class 1, 2 or 3 driver’s licenses with airbrake (Q) endorsement an asset
Ability to supply own tools up to ¾” and impact drives
Ability to think outside the box with a positive attitude, and problem-solving skills
Mature, energetic, dependable, and self-motivated
Enjoy working with a team in a busy, fast-paced environment
Must enjoy working outdoors, even in challenging mountain weather conditions
Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods in an indoor/outdoor environment. Be prepared for all types of weather (Snow, Rain, Wind, Hail) at all times. The weather changes quickly in the park.
Must adhere to the Company’s Drug and Alcohol policy
Must meet the Organization grooming and appearance standards

Standard First-Aid or higher an asset
