Banff, AB $20 an hour - Full-time, Part-time Full-time and Part-time: to September 30, 2021 Help “Take Care of Banff” by providing assistance to visitors and residents arriving by vehicle in the Town of Banff. Your eagerness to initiate and engage in conversation with strangers in a friendly and professional manner is your greatest skill. This role is critical to welcoming people, which helps in our economic recovery and long-term sustainability. You will be responsible for engaging the public within the Town of Banff on parking and visitor needs. Your duties are: represent the Town of Banff as an advocate for safety and enjoyment in the service centre for the national park; help people understand and use the new paid-parking system in the downtown core (banff.ca/PayParking); direct drivers to find the most convenient free parking in the townsite, mainly at the Train Station and the Fenlands Recreation Centre, through traffic direction and conversations; deploy temporary signage as required; answer questions, give directions and tourism recommendations, and assist with parking requirements, as enthusiastically on the 100th time as you did on the first time that shift; report feedback from visitors and residents on a range of subjects, and suggest improvements in signage, street design or ambassador duties to continuously improve assistance to the public; demonstrate resiliency and patience when educating the public; and maintain energy and physical stamina throughout the scheduled shift where walking and standing and weather extremes are present. The role may expand to other public engagement activities depending on interest and availability. You are recognized for your engaging personal interaction skills (listening and responding), clear and courteous communication (including effective body language), and positive and professional attitude. Personal qualities required in this role include an outgoing personality, taking initiative to help people, an approachable attitude, local knowledge, emotional resilience, and physical and cognitive strength and stamina. Job-training with specific information, procedures and scripting will be provided, along with personal protective equipment. The work schedule will be variable over seven days per week, working most weekends and holidays, with an opportunity to work part-time or up to 35 hours per week.
