Marketing Officer, Social Media
Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity aims to inspire everyone who attends our campus – artists, leaders, and thinkers – to unleash their creative potential.

The Opportunity
Marketing and Communications is critical to the profile and viability of Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. The Marketing Officer, Social Media, is responsible for representing Banff Centre, engaging with it's communities, telling a comprehensive story of the Banff Centre organization through graphics, video and writing, and supporting business objectives through social media channels. The objective of this position is to increase awareness, understanding, appreciation of and participation in the programs, events, products and reputation of Banff Centre.

Specific Accountabilities
Reporting to the Director of Communications, below are some key responsibilities:

Responsible for the creation, execution and evaluation of Banff Centre's social media strategy
Manage all Banff Centre and Banff Centre programmatic social media channels working with marketing and communications team members to plan and create social media content that builds Banff Centre's brand, tells the full Banff Centre story, achieves business targets and engages with its online community
Plan monthly content calendar, facilitate postings and evaluate engagement
Create a variety of content pieces intended for social media; static photos, short form video, animations, graphics, etc. and contribute to long-form video (in collaboration with Communications and Media departments)
Write engaging and concise social media copy
Maintain awareness of social media trends, platforms, tools, designs and best practices and apply to Banff Centre's strategy
Conduct weekly and monthly data evaluation of social media to make data-driven decisions and increase performance and audience growth
Actively listen across social platforms to be timely, accurate and engaging with online community and to track online sentiment
Work cross functionally across the department and organization to showcase the depth of artistic programs, events and business lines that occur annually
Actively contribute to fostering a positive, results driven environment and support Banff Centre values and culture
Identify potential issues and/or opportunities in user-generated content and community activity/comments surrounding Banff Centre and communicate to appropriate management in a timely manner
Analyze campaigns and translate anecdotal or qualitative data into recommendations and plan for revising social media, content marketing, communications/editorial planning, Search Optimization (SEO) and social advertising campaigns
Maintain awareness of Banff Centre activities on-site, attend events as needed for video and photo event capture
Manage schedule of artist, alumni, staff interviews meant for social media content, conducting interviews as needed
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
5+ years of experience managing social media channels is required
A post-secondary degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or a related field
Demonstrated success managing multiple channels and communities simultaneously
Knowledge of social media and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices
Knowledge of standard Microsoft Office software packages
Knowledge of project management and social media management tools
Knowledge of basic graphic design/content creation programs
Passion for social media as an engagement and storytelling tool
Passion for organizational mission involving arts, leadership, mountain culture, creativity and innovation
Experience with arts organization or a post-secondary institution is an asset
Demonstrated ability to work under broad direction without close supervision
Strong organization skills
Exceptional oral and written communication skills
Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities, tasks and schedules
Thorough knowledge of marketing and communications practices
Excellent interpersonal skills and thrives within a team environment
Exceptional customer service experience
Special Requirements
Due to the nature of the job, this position requires the candidate to be available to work a flexible, irregular schedule, and weekends
Employment Terms & Benefits
In accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, hourly support staff position, subject to a 500 hour probation period
This position pays $29.70 per hour, working up to 40 hours per week on a regular schedule
