What will be your daily pursuit?:
The Stewardship and Indigenous Engagement Specialist will support the advancement of Pursuit - Banff Jasper Collection’s sustainability and Indigenous engagement initiatives. This role will focus on assisting with the development, implementation, and management of environmental and Indigenous programs and strategies. The specialist will work closely with various departments to help achieve sustainability goals, reduce the company’s environmental footprint, and enhance Indigenous engagement efforts. Additionally, this position will monitor progress and provide recommendations for improvements in sustainability practices across the organization. This position reports to the Director, Initiatives and Experience Development.

What will you do in this job?:
Assist in the implementation, and monitoring of sustainability strategies and initiatives to reduce energy and water consumption, waste, carbon footprint, and improve resource efficiency. Support businesses through project management of major environmental initiatives and projects.
Assist in the collection, analysis, and reporting of sustainability data (e.g., energy and water usage, waste reduction, emissions, water consumption and other on-the-ground initiatives). Assist in preparing annual reports for internal stakeholders and external audits.
Collaborate with the Banff Jasper Collection Green Committee, line of business green teams and different departments (e.g., facilities management, P&C) to implement sustainability practices and achieve goals. Educate and engage employees at all levels about sustainability initiatives and practices. Organize team events such as trail clean ups, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Cultural Awareness Training, etc.
Assist in identifying and supporting key projects aimed at improving resource efficiency, such as energy-saving initiatives, waste reduction, and sustainable sourcing of materials.
Support the development and maintenance of communication materials, such as sustainability reports, newsletters, and presentations to raise awareness and promote sustainability efforts both internally and externally.
Assist in conducting regular sustainability audits to identify areas for improvement and support the tracking of the effectiveness of sustainability programs.
Stay updated on trends, technologies, and best practices in sustainability and make recommendations for improving the company’s sustainability performance.
Ensure the company’s sustainability programs comply with local, regional, and national environmental regulations, standards, and best practices.
Assist with any other departmental tasks and responsibilities to support Pursuit’s Indigenous Partnership strategy specifically related to partnerships, invitations, training and events

What skills and experience do you need for this job?:
Experience or strong interest in sustainability or environmental management including relevant internships or volunteer work.
Knowledge of sustainability practices, environmental regulations, and industry standards.
Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and educate internal stakeholders.
Strong computer/systems experience and skills required, with functional ability to use Microsoft Office tools desired (Word, Excel, PPT)
