This seasonal, full time position based in Banff will be responsible for assisting, reporting and organizing social and media objectives for Banff Sunshine Village. Banff Sunshine Village is a world-class ski and snowboard resort in Banff, Alberta, famed for Canada's Best Snow. We're looking for an energetic and creative individual to assist with social media. The Social & Media Assistant is a key position among our marketing team. This individual will work with the communications and events team to animate the Sunshine experience. The major responsibilities of the Social & Media Assistant include being a key real-time content creator for Banff Sunshine Village.

Essential Functions
Assist in the implementation of media relations, communications and marketing strategies.
Assist with research of media targets and social media influencers to connect with.
Track coverage and assist with the compilation of weekly, monthly and annual media relations reports.
Assist in researching, writing and editing press releases, website copy, fact sheets and additional communication materials.
Highlight key services and amenities provided by Banff Sunshine Village on social media. This includes highlighting the Sunshine Mountain Lodge, ski school, restaurants and rentals.
Assist with taking and editing inspiring daily photos and videos that show the FUN of Banff Sunshine Village.
Aid in the production of weekly content.
Promote, share and highlight Sunshine events. Create event photo albums and publish recap videos.
Post, in accordance with the Sunshine Social Schedule, and engage with Sunshine fans online.
Take direction from the Social & Media Coordinator and Marketing, Media, and Events. supervisor to check in with various departments on-mountain.
Assist with the set-up, running, and teardown of all events.
Write weekly event news updates, and post event recaps for all Sunshine hosted events.
Assist with sourcing feature opportunities and maintaining a content library.
Assist on-mountain sales and marketing with events, groups and familiarization tours.
Act as a brand ambassador and mediator; throughout all aspects of work as per Banff Sunshine Village brand policy.
Other duties as assigned by supervisors and management.
Experience/Requirements
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing or advertising (preferred) - OR - equivalent work experience in public relations, copy writing, events, photo/video creation and editing within social media focused environments (content creation).
Excellent writing ability with significant experience in writing content for websites or other publications. Ability to write both comically and professionally, depending on the medium.
Practical experience working with social networks and platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, lnstagram, biogs, YouTube, and Vimeo.
Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS and Microsoft Office.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator and lnDesign) and video editing software such as Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro is a must.
Experience sourcing and managing content and publishing.
Must be a strong skier or snowboarder.
Strong communication and organizational skills including the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines.
Ability to work individually (self-starter) and as part of a team. Coachability and willingness to take direction are essential.
