Full job description
Full-Time, Permanent
As part of our Municipal Enforcement team, you “Take Care of Banff” through the enforcement of Town Bylaws and Parking Regulations. You will contribute to a sustainable transportation and vehicle management system in Town through your enforcement of Parking Regulations, and you will respond to and investigate Bylaw complaints as they arise.

This role is accountable for making pro-active enforcement patrols of all parking areas, focusing on the paid parking and controlled residential parking zones. You will utilize the electronic ticketing system to conduct enforcement and support your charges with photo evidence. You will be expected to show impeccable accuracy in your data entry and keep detailed records of your enforcement efforts. You have the interpersonal skills and diplomacy to engage visitors and residents in the course of your duties, often dealing with emotional and agitated clients. You use past work experience to manage highly charged emotional situations and demonstrate professionalism, confidence and sound judgement based on facts and observation.

You will respond to calls for service related to Bylaw complaints and will work closely with other members of the Municipal Enforcement team to effectively bring these complaints to a resolution. You will also be expected to work collaboratively with other Town departments to gather evidence and information as required. Your ability to gather information objectively and make decisions based on the evidence before you is key to success in this position.

You will be expected to perform administrative functions on occasion, such as reviewing, verifying, and approving Residential Parking Permits. You will also be required to work with an electronic ticketing system. Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and/or enforcement related software will be an asset for this position.

You are a uniformed presence in our community and have the physical ability to spend most of your day outside, on foot (or bicycle) patrolling our downtown core and nearby parks and amenity areas in all elements Mother Nature may deliver. Your cognitive abilities include measured responses in emotional situations, problem-solving approach and attention to detail.

Related post-secondary education and previous work or volunteer experience in an enforcement-related field and familiarity with local government functions are very desirable qualities for this position. You have a valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence and can produce a clear driver abstract and RCMP criminal background check prior to employment.

Working safely is a condition of employment at the Town of Banff. As part of our internal responsibility system, all employees are accountable for adhering to Occupational Health and Safety legislation and Town of Banff safety protocols. The Town of Banff's safety culture philosophy is one of continuous improvement, so we look forward to your suggestions to make our workplace even safer.

“Taking care of Banff: our Community, our People, our Park.”
