Brewpub Assistant – Banff Ave. Brewing Co.

Banff Ave Brewing Co. was founded in 2010, five years after the opening of its sister brewpub Jasper Brewing Co. The second brewpub in the Bearhill family, BABCo has developed into a beer culture hotbed for locals and tourists alike. Drawing strength from the dynamic Banff community and inspiration from the Rocky Mountains and wildlife, BABCo is a central hub not to be missed in the National Parks. We are looking for an hourly brewpub assistant to grow our team!

Our ideal candidate has brewery or brewpub experience, but we are willing to provide all the training required for the right candidate. If its FULL TIME hours you are looking for, we have the option of a hybrid role involving both brewery assistant and a front of house position. Front of house positions can vary depending on your previous experience. This would allow you to take on both roles fulfilling full-time work and integrating into numerous aspects of the business and team. As a brewpub assistant, you would report to Banff Ave.’s Head Brewer Fred and General Manager Chris. This is a unique opportunity to learn brewing skills and provide hospitality in a beautiful and unique mountain community!

RESPONSIBILITIES 

In the brewery, you would: 

CIP fermenters, bright tanks, transfer lines, and yeast brinks 
Perform daily QC checks including gravities, pH, and yeast cell counts 
Wash, fill, and store kegs in the cold room 
Safely use hot liquids and dangerous chemicals 
Handle raw ingredients – mill grain, weigh hops etc. 
Perform all aspects of wort production 
Maintain sanitary practices during wort production, cellaring and packaging 
Assist in monthly inventory counts 
Keep detailed production and CIP records 
Comply with all company policies and SOP’s 
Assist the Head Brewer with any other necessary tasks 
Deliveries 
Occasional sampling events 
Cleaning, cleaning, cleaning 
REQUIREMENTS 

Prior experience in a brewery or a brewpub is preferred but we are willing to train the right candidate! 
Drivers’ license and clean drivers abstract 
A passion for craft beer
Self-motivation, strong work ethic, and good critical thinking skills 
Team player 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch for entire shift 
Climb stairs, pull heavy hoses 
Ability to frequently lift and move up to 25 kg 
Willing to do all of this in hot, cold, and wet conditions with a sense of humour
