Wardrobe - Theatre Practitioner Level 3

This is a term position from January 20 - 25, 2025.

The Opportunity

Banff Centre is looking for a Theatre Practitioner Level 3 - Wardrobe who can work collaboratively to provide support for Why Not Theatre's performance of Mahabharata: The Journey Begins.

Specific Accountabilities

Adjusting costumes and fittings for cast members
Assisting with repairs to costumes including inserting elastics in waistbands, repairing snaps, and mending tears to fabric
Rebuilding a bodysuit that is a mesh long sleeve leotard
Qualification and Educational Requirements

Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a working practitioner in their discipline within a Theatre or Performing Arts production environment
Has completed a formal theatre education
Must have a working knowledge of the theories and practices that support this discipline
Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to stay calm under pressure
Able to work with tight, changing timelines in a fast paced environment
Knowledgeable of related industry trends including the application of up to date techniques, and use of special materials and current health and safety standards
Able to apply of professional theatre techniques and methods to provide the quality, efficiency and support level required by Performing Arts
Special Requirements

Due to the nature of the job, this position requires the candidate to be available to work a flexible, irregular schedule and weekends.

In accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, hourly support staff position, subject to a 500-hour probationary period.
This position pays between $27.17 and $31.51 per hour, depending on experience, working up to 40 hours per week on a rotating schedule.
This is a term position, from January 14 - 29, 2025
