Description

The Custodial/Janitorial Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of custodial and janitorial services within Sunshine Village. This role involves leading a team of custodial staff, ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of facilities, and developing and implementing cleaning protocols. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, experience in facility maintenance, and a commitment to providing a clean, safe, and hygienic environment.

Job Functions

Team Management:
Leading by example, taking a positive, professional, active role when required by participating in work performed by the team.

Supervise, train, and develop custodial staff, including scheduling, and conducting performance reviews.

Develop and implement training programs for new and existing staff on cleaning techniques, equipment use, and safety procedures.

Foster a positive work environment and address staff concerns or conflicts as they arise.

Cleaning and Maintenance:
Continually promoting the company's exceptional guest service philosophy, and maintaining current, up-to-date knowledge of custodial industry standards and best practices.

Oversee daily cleaning operations to ensure that all areas of the resort are maintained to high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.

Develop and enforce cleaning schedules and protocols for various areas, including offices, restrooms, and common spaces.

Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with cleaning standards and make necessary adjustments.

Inventory and Equipment Management:
Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels and ordering as needed.

Ensure that all cleaning equipment is maintained and in good working order; arrange for repairs or replacements as required.

Safety and Compliance:
Ensure that all cleaning operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to protect guests and employees.

Conduct regular safety audits and address any potential hazards or risks.

Other duties may be requested and assigned from time to time.

Experience/Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in facilities management, environmental services, or a related field is preferred.

Proven experience in custodial or janitorial services, including supervisory experience.

Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.

Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and safety procedures.

Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Proficient in using computer software for scheduling, reporting, and inventory management.

Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, such as cleaning equipment and supplies.
Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
Ability to operate cleaning equipment and handle various cleaning chemicals safely.
Prepared to work flexible schedules e.g., weekends, holidays, nights, extended hours.
Prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions e.g., appropriate footwear, layers, gloves.
Approachable and courteous while being calm under pressure and patient.
Communicate effectively in English, both written and verbally.
Maintain professional conduct on or off-duty, and when knowingly acting as a company representative.
Effectively provide training, support, and assistance to responsible departments, and others.
Conduct, attend and actively participate in meetings and training inside and outside of departments.
Must be neat, alert, punctual and dependable.
