THE ROLE:

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for all engineering/maintenance operations, including maintaining the building, grounds, mechanical equipment, guestrooms and utility systems are maintained in excellent condition. Accountable for managing the maintenance budget, preventative maintenance and energy conservation.

ACTIVITIES:
The duties and responsibilities for the Maintenance Manager include, but are not limited to the following:

. Supervises and assists maintenance staff/contractors in the maintenance and repair of plumbing, hotel rooms, A/C and heating, ice machines, swimming pool, lighting, kitchen equipment, refrigeration, laundry, emergency generators, switch rooms, etc.

· Ensures all maintenance and repairs are completed on a timely, cost-effective basis and according to specifications.

· Orders necessary materials and tools for repairing equipment and keeps within budgetary guidelines.

· Maintains an ongoing preventative maintenance program for the hotel.

· Responsible for administering and documenting equipment preventative maintenance and guest room preventative maintenance.

· Responsible for the safety of the department and the building.

· Responds quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner. Follows up to ensure guest satisfaction.

· Follows company policies and procedures and is able to effectively communicate them to subordinates.

· Aggressively recruits and staffs department using company hiring standards (i.e. behavioral questioning, reference checks, evaluations and team interviews). Reviews performances and assists in career development.

· Conducts fire drills, training classes regarding safety, security, department procedures and service guidelines.

· Ensures hotel is in compliance with all federal, provincial and local laws, including Health and Safety, ESA, Human Rights etc.

· Ensures all fire and safety inspections are completed and any discrepancies are corrected.

. Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

COMPETENCIES WE ARE SEEKING:

Education/ Experience: High School diploma or equivalent. 3+ years progressive maintenance experience in a supervisory role. Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office).
Certification and/or License Requirement: Maintenance Management Professional; Certified Maintenance Manager, Valid provincial driver’s license.
Guest oriented and service minded with an attention to detail.
Safety Awareness.
Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
Effective communication and people management skills.
Quick thinking and able to spot and resolve problems efficiently.
Ability to manage personnel and meet financial targets.
Excellent planning and organizing skills.
Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and work under pressure.
Work independently and maintain a positive attitude within a busy environment.
