Job Description

The Assistant Golf Operations Manager will be responsible for working closely with the Golf Operation Manager to ensure the day to day successful operation of the golf guest services and golf retail departments of the golf division. In addition to the overall functioning of the operation, this position will specifically be responsible to oversee the proper functioning of group execution, on-course golf experience, cart and range operation and rental equipment. The successful candidate will have strong communication and organizational skills and is comfortable making quick and creative decisions, and exceeding guest expectations while demonstrating a high level of responsibility for their own actions.

Competitive Salary: $53,000 - $55,000 gross annually, based on previous experience & education

Job Duties Include:

Reporting to the Golf Operations Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Maintain a management presence during all operational hours.
Lead daily golf morning meetings, hotel meetings, and weekly tee sheet reviews.
Hire, onboard, and train all golf operations staff; ensure policy compliance and proper uniforms.
Oversee group events, VIP experiences, and day-to-day guest services operations.
Manage pre-arrival emails, guest feedback systems, surveys, and online reviews.
Ensure seamless execution of retail operations, including inventory, merchandising, and sales events.
Organize pre-season setup for rental equipment, carts, guest services, and retail spaces.
Administer scheduling, payroll, and performance management for operations staff.
Monitor pace of play using TagMarshal and implement pace-of-play SOPs.
Liaise with hotel teams on shuttles, maintenance, and course management.
Organize team-building events, staff meetings, and communication initiatives.
Track budgets, order resources, and manage month-end reporting.
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Your Skills & Qualifications:

Business Degree or Diploma in a recognized Professional Golf Management program is an asset but not necessary.
Previous experience in a similar role in Fairmont or the golf business.
Valid Driver’s Licenses and updated drivers abstract
Previous experience in a leadership role within a large golf operation
Able to work flexible hours (early morning, evening and occasional split shifts)
Proficient in computer Programs (Microsoft Word and Excel, Reservation and POS systems). Previous use of the Golf Concept software program is an asset.
Proven capability and experience with Financial and Human Resource Management
Excellent written and verbal skills with a high attention to detail required
Ability to deal with high-pressure situations in a fast-paced environment
Solutions-orientated, strong interpersonal skills and problem solving techniques
Highly motivated, career-minded team player who is guest driven with a passion to continually exceed expectations and anticipate needs
Proactive with a demonstrated eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple functions
Previous work experience at Fairmont is an asset.
