The Pastry Demi Chef de Partie is responsible for assisting in the preparation and production of high-quality desserts, pastries, and baked goods for our café and restaurants. The role involves working under the guidance of the Pastry CDP and Pastry Chef to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality products while maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Duties and Responsibilities: Assist in the preparation, production, and presentation of pastries, desserts, and baked goods, including a variety of Croissants, breads, cakes, tarts, mousses, and other confections. Follow recipes and instructions to ensure the consistent quality and presentation of all pastry items in line with BCP standards. Assist in managing and maintaining inventory and stock levels of pastry ingredients and supplies. Represent BCP in such a manner as to enhance the reputation of the company and to nurture ‘Caribou’ culture throughout all aspects of operations. Ensure all staff maintain a safe and injury free workplace by following safe work practices, complying with all sanitation and health & safety standards and ensure safe operation and maintenance of all kitchen equipment. Work within the budgeted guidelines for the kitchen and to take responsibility for, and minimize; labour costs, food costs, wastage and expenses. Coach and support members of the culinary team. Identify any training needs within your staff and follow up accordingly. Continually promote professional work habits and recognize and reward jobs well done. Maintain good relationships with other areas of the kitchen and other internal departments. Attend and participate in the monthly kitchen meeting. Work safely. Obey all health and safety policies and procedures and report injuries and hazards immediately. Additional duties as assigned to support guest and business needs. Skills and Qualifications: Previous experience in a professional pastry kitchen, ideally in a high-end restaurant, hotel, or bakery. Strong understanding of pastry techniques and baking methods or willingness to learn. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. A creative flair for developing new pastry items. Good communication and teamwork skills.
