Digital Marketing Specialist

The Opportunity
Marketing and Communications is critical to the profile and viability of Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. The Digital Marketing Specialist is responsible for providing support in preparation, implementation, and evaluation of digital marketing plans at Banff Centre. The objective of this position is to optimize digital marketing and digital experience to reinforce our Brand positioning and deliver against Banff Centre goals. The Digital Marketing Specialist will activate marketing priorities on digital platforms as well as manage, maintain and update these platforms. This position will contribute to driving overall online user experience, and increase awareness, understanding, and appreciation of and participation in programs, events, and products of Banff Centre.

Roles and Responsibilities
Reporting to Director, Marketing, the Digital Marketing Specialist, below are some key accountabilities:

Marketing (40%)

Assists the digital marketing team in the preparation, execution, and evaluation of digital marketing plans. This involves the following:

Responsible for strategy, execution and evaluation of Banff Centre’s digital paid advertising
Responsible for allocating the paid digital advertising budget on Google Ads and social media ads. Relationship management and reporting on digital ads with the marketing team, or other areas across the organization.
Manage paid digital advertising and social media working with content team members to plan, create digital ads and social content that builds Banff Centre’s brand, achieves business targets and engages with its online community.
Maintain awareness of paid digital advertising and social media trends, platforms, tools, designs, and best practices for their application to Banff Centre.
Conduct weekly and monthly data evaluation of paid digital advertising and social media to make data driven decisions and to optimize tactics continually
Support in coordinating, monitoring, and scheduling social media posts
Website (30%)

Performs website updates for functionality improvement and content
Works closely with the Digital Strategist on user experience
Optimizes content and implements SEO best practices
Analytics (20%)

Performs analysis for digital marketing team to aid in digital marketing optimization

Reports on website performance and KPI’s
Reports on social media KPI’s
Reports of top performing digital content
Pulls program recruitment metrics
Reports on Google Ads and digital advertising performance
Analyzes SEO / SEM results
Adhoc reporting as required
Databases (10%)

Upload email campaign lists
Comfortable with data management
Assists with email template updates
Supports the marketing and communications with the use of the Campus Cloud and Raisers Edge platforms
Subject matter expert on FOIP / CASL / GDPR
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
3 to 5 years of related Marketing experience is required
Undergraduate degree or diploma in marketing, IT/S, or related field
Experience with digital advertising, digital design,analytics and email marketing
Experience with website CMS tools (Drupal or Wordpress experience)
Advanced computer skills with an extensive knowledge of MS Excel and Outlook
Proficient with Google Ads; certification would be an asset.
Proficient with Google Analytics, certification would be an asset.
Proficient with Google Tag Manager
Proficient with Data Studio
Experience with Adobe CS
Experience with social media (facebook, Instagram, twitter) an asset
Knowledge of marketing and communications practices
Good written communication
Strong attention to detail, reliable and motivated
Exceptional time management skills
Self-manager with the ability to work under broad direction without close supervision
Team player with excellent interpersonal communication
Employment Terms and Benefits
In accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, salaried support staff position, subject to a 6 month probation period.
The annual salary for this position is between $42,800.00 – $47,500.00, depending on experience, based on working 40 hours per week.
The successful candidate will have access to a range of benefits through Alberta Blue Cross and will be eligible to participate in our defined benefit pension plan.
