Join the vibrant team at the Town of Banff where we're eagerly seeking individuals to fill two exciting roles: two Casual positions. This position is currently contracted to December 31, 2027, in accordance with the Town of Banff’s agreement with Sally Borden Fitness and Recreation. In the event the agreement is extended, there is potential for this term agreement to be extended as well. Duties & Responsibilities: You plan, deliver and facilitate meaningful aquatics and recreational programs in various settings for all ages, focusing on increasing swimming ability, and lifesaving skills. Including but not limited to: Lifeguarding public swimming and instructing Lifesaving Societies Swim for Life programming. Ensuring the safety and supervision of program participants by performing routine cleaning, equipment maintenance, daily checklists and hazard inspections while reporting any concerns in a timely manner. Respond to emergencies, incidents, first aid situations promptly, professionally, and in accordance with established provincial legislation, Town of Banff procedures, and Lifesaving Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories Branch guidance and policy. Assist with program setup and teardown of equipment for events and programs to ensure spaces are ready for use. Maintain the National Lifeguard standard throughout employment by attending in staff training, in-services, and skill evaluations. Maintain professional communication with facility partners and community members and ensure policies and procedures adhered to. Assist in maximizing participation of aquatic programs offered by the Town of Banff. Deliver exceptional customer service by responding promptly and professionally to aquatic inquiries, comments, or concerns, resolving issues, and maintaining high satisfaction levels. Assist community members with recreation program registration using specialized software such as Univerus, and support daily cash reconciliations, refunds, and account transfers according to municipal policy. Certifications & Experience: Current Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard – Pool, Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor and Intermediate/Standard First Aid & CPR C with AED – OHS approved. Valid and clean criminal background check with vulnerable sector clearance must be provided upon hire. Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff, volunteers, civic and private individuals and organizations in the community. Ability to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Previous lifeguarding or swim instruction experience is considered an asset. Additional aquatic certifications, such as Lifesaving Society Swim Abilities Instructor, Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor, and O2 Administrator are preferred. Hourly Rate of Pay: Starts at $27.74 with and additional $1.00 per hour for instructional time. Work Schedule: hours of work will vary but a commit to a minimum of one shift a week or help to cover shifts in times of sickness, vacation or when additional staffing is needed for certain programs.
