We’re looking for someone with strong community mindedness, compassion and concentration, who has can work effectively with and serve a loyal staff and customer base of diverse backgrounds, cultures, orientations and abilities. The ideal candidate will have proven retail management experience. Primary responsibilities include directing, coaching and encouraging staff; maintaining a safe and clean environment; resolving issues; supervising sales and banking tasks. A strong community focus is essential to maintain and strengthen contacts, particularly within the circular economy. The majority of the 20 hour work week will be in the shop, so you must be able to work afternoons and evenings during shop hours Responsibilities Provide excellent customer service Handle and supervise cash and debit transactions efficiently and accurately Manage inventory by organizing donations, pricing items, and displaying for sale Assist in merchandising displays to attract customers and promote sales Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth store operations and maintain cleanliness Supervise volunteers or junior staff as required, providing training and support Manage staff and volunteer schedules Manage social media accounts and liaise with other Bow Valley social ventures Qualifications Several years experience in retail sales; one year in retail management Strong cash handling skills with attention to detail in processing transactions Ability to communicate effectively while maintaining positive customer relationships Excellent communication skills with a friendly demeanor towards customers and colleagues A proactive attitude towards problem-solving and store organization If you are passionate about retail, enjoy leading and expanding a team of employees and volunteers, thrive in a busy community-focused environment, we would love to hear from you!
