What can you expect?

Trail Crew Labourers are in a visible role and provide an outstanding experience for guests via the maintenance of skiable terrain at the Ski Area. Labourers focus on public safety, using the accumulation and distribution of natural snowfall at the Resort by snow “farming” using steel posts and specialized fencing, and performing heavy, physical tasks on snow. Trail Crew Labourers report to the Trail Crew Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor, the Slopes Supervisor, and work alongside the entire Mountain Operations department.

Key Responsibilities
Traveling safety and professionally on and off skis to perform heavy tasks, including erecting and maintaining fences on steel and bamboo. Developing and opening skiable terrain through the Ski Area.
Acquiring a comprehensive knowledge of the Ski Area, runs, boundaries, and terrain.
Monitoring runs, signs, trail signs, and equipment placed throughout the Ski Area, reporting deficiencies and safety hazards in a timely manner.
Communicating effectively via radio.
Participating in: public safety (monitoring avalanche closures as part of the Ski Area’s avalanche control operations), lift and self-evacuations, speed control throughout the Area, limited scope emergency response, events (set up, take down, support).
Traveling with equipment and loads up to 30 lbs, skiing with a toboggan and with a backpack.
Other duties may be requested and assigned from time to time.

Experience/Requirements

Strong work ethic, taking pride in the job and finished product.
Ability to ski at a high intermediate/advanced level is required. Skiing for work requires completion of a competency test, skiing and riding professionally, and is restricted to designated runs.
Familiar with the ski area, its boundaries, and our affiliation and responsibilities.
Prepared to work flexible schedules (weekends, holidays, etc.) and outdoors, in all weather conditions.
Standard First Aid is preferred.
Providing your own ASTM-compliant helmet and ski equipment for work (which will get early season rock damage!) which must be in good operating condition, meet Company requirements, and will be tested.
This position requires the ability to stand and ski for long periods of time, constant trunk rotation, frequent lifting of equipment (up to 20 kg), shoveling, skiing with a backpack, balancing and skiing with heavier loads.
Labourers may be required to ski with a loaded toboggan.
This role operates small equipment and hand tools. Labourers work in a remote, alpine environment, and at times independently.
Required outdoor uniform pieces and avalanche equipment (shovel, probe, transceiver) are provided.
