What can you expect? Snow Makers provide an outstanding experience for guests by supplementing the Resort’s abundant natural snowfall with additional coverage in small, but key, areas. The role focuses on safety, efficiency, and works continuously through peak artificial snow creation times during the early winter season. Snow Makers work under the direction of the Snowmaking Lead Hand, report along to the Senior Slopes Supervisor, and work closely with and alongside the Mountain Operations, Maintenance, and all outdoor departments. Key Responsibilities Monitoring and maintaining air compressors, water pumps, compressor/pump mechanics, electrical systems, instrumentation, fusing HDPE pipe, pipe laying, construction, and fan gun systems. Communicating effectively via radio. Acquiring a comprehensive knowledge of Resort areas which may be required to carry out snowmaking. Monitoring safety communication, closures, signage, lines, when snowmaking equipment is placed and operating. Timely and accurate reporting of all safety hazards, incidents, and deficiencies to appropriate personnel. Recording requested data (temperatures, water flow, etc.) from snowmaking operations. Experience/Requirements Previous experience and good mechanical aptitude is preferred, but not required, for the position. Standard First Aid is an asset. Strong work ethic, taking pride in the job and finished product. Calm under pressure and patient. Must be prepared to work efficiently, safely, and without direct supervision. Prepared to work long, continuous shifts during peak snowmaking periods. Work will include flexible schedules (weekends, holidays, OT, etc.) and be outdoors, in all weather conditions. Must be neat, punctual, and dependable. This physical position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time, constant trunk rotation, and frequent lifting and arranging of heavy equipment.
