The primary focus of the Family Connections Specialist is to develop, tailor and deliver family connections drop-in program, as well as provide parent education programming designed to enhance caregiver capacity of families with children in the early years (0-5).

You will work closely with the Early Years Support Worker for the Banff Family Resource Network on the design, and delivery of the Family Connections drop-in program. You collaborate with other FRN representatives, community agencies/organizations in the Bow Valley to provide parent education workshops and youth leadership programming.

These opportunities will be offered in a variety of community settings and primarily located in Banff, but open to all families across the Bow Valley. The monitoring and reporting on client and stakeholder needs ensures the Family Connections drop-in program is a welcoming, safe environment for families to connect.

You will identify gaps and respond to parent and caregiver needs in a helping and supportive capacity. You effectively blend the planning and implementation of services, programs, and initiatives with administrative, procedural and financial accountabilities. You model leadership through collaboration, communication and compassion and provide resources and support that empower your clients. Characteristics of empathy, discretion, decision-making and initiative are the cornerstones of your professional reputation.

Your cover letter and resume should include why you are a fit for this position, in addition to confirming your; completed post-secondary education in human services (or an appropriate, related program), three years’ work experience in a helping profession, preferably in a school or municipal capacity. Assets include Brain Story certification, membership in an accredited and related professional association and knowledge of FOIP legislation.

You are competent in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel). You have a valid class 5 Alberta driver’s licence and can provide a clear driver’s abstract on hire. You will be required to provide a clear RCMP criminal background check with vulnerable sector clearance on hire. This position’s key responsibilities will be scheduled through-out the year until March 31, 2024, with a strong likelihood that the contract will be extended an additional three years.

The starting salary for this position is $64,000 per year.
