Description
The Rentals and Tech Shop Supervisor provides an outstanding experience via the efficient and safe operation of the main rental shop at the Bourgeau Base area and the rental tent located in the Village. The Supervisor hires, trains and supervises rentals and tech shop team members, with a focus on knowledge, attention to detail, and courtesy. The Supervisor reports to the Director of Snow Sports and works alongside other senior and supervisory personnel in Ski School and Rentals, and works closely with many other on-mountain and administrative departments.
Job Functions
Hire, train and supervise the Rentals and Shop teams, and supervise day-to-day operations in both rental locations.
Overall management of the rentals process, for best service, and maximum efficiency. Active involvement in daily tasks by delegation, example or both is a must.
Control and maintain inventory, including: rental equipment, parts, additional equipment, materials and cleaning supplies. Reordering inventory and placing orders with suppliers on an as-needed basis. This includes providing accurate inventory data and assisting in the annual fleet purchase for both shops.
Overseeing maintenance, opening and closing of both rentals shops to ensure they are safe for guests and team members. Shops must be clean at all times, and all equipment and operating items must be stored properly. Shops are properly prepared for opening, including snow and ice removal from outside the building(s), ensuring cashier’s tills are properly prepared, and all stations are ready to run.
Review and oversee all Rental and Tuning Waivers, to make sure they are properly completed and signed.
Overseeing the rental equipment fleet to ensure equipment is rotated and fully tuned, and ready for guests.
Confirm live inventory (rented equipment) is dealt with daily. Identify and eliminate any missing equipment.
Guarantee guests are having the best possible experience in the shops, and be prepared to deal with any guests services issues that may arise.

Administrative and Reporting Responsibilities:
Collecting and reporting all rental income.
Preparing for, conducting and documenting morning meetings, including attendance, safety messaging and operational and customer service training reinforcement.
Assisting with making sure cashiers have daily tills cashed out, ensuring reports are completed on time.
Ensure locations are properly staffed and open during operating hours, including managing daily break schedules to ensure the optimal number of staff is on the floor at any given time. Manage staffing levels to meet or exceed budget expectations.
Daily filing must be done neatly, and continually kept track of in an organized manner.
Conducting performance appraisals and administering corrective action and discipline as required, communicating actions and any concerns in a timely manner to the Director of Snow Sports.
Ensuring team members are aware of and adhering to company policies and procedures.
Timely and accurate incident and deficiencies reporting to appropriate personnel.
Other duties may be requested and assigned from time to time.
Experience/Requirements
Minimum three (3) years’ supervisory experience, preferably within a comparably large ski rental shop.
Proven experience as a leader and ability to manage a team of approximately 16 to 25 individuals, across two locations.
Minimum three (3) years’ ski tuning experience.
Advanced knowledge of ski tuning and repair techniques, including safe operation of Wintersteiger ski tuning machines, and knowledge on adjustment of various brands of ski and snowboard bindings (not limited to DIN calculations and forward pressure adjustment).
Demonstrated ability to instruct team members in the above.
Computer skills, including proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products and Windows is an asset. Administrative level experience with Sports Rental or similar equipment rental software.
High level commitment to exceptional customer service. Outgoing, positive attitude.
Binding certifications from leading manufacturers are an asset.
A clean criminal record check is required for this position.
Completion of high school education and ideally some post-secondary training is an asset.
Able to think critically, work well with others, complete department task planning.
Good organizational skills.
Prepared to work flexible schedules (weekends, holidays).
Calm under pressure and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Maintain professional conduct when in uniform on or off-duty.
Effectively provide training, support and assistance to team.
Effectively and professionally liaise and communicate with others.
Must be neat, punctual and dependable.
Additional Considerations
Employees must always be of sound mind, exhibit good judgment, and report to work fit for duty.
This position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time, constant trunk rotation, and occasional lifting of equipment (up to 20 kg). The Supervisor may occasionally climb ladders or inclined stairs up to 5m.
This role operates machinery, specifically, the Wintersteiger ski tuning machine. Competency is required.
All Rentals employees are expected to wear appropriate indoor/outdoor footwear.
Some uniform pieces are provided.
