Position Overview: Junior Sommelier assists in the execution of an exceptional wine program and contributes to the overall success of The Post’s beverage service. Duties and Responsibilities: · Support the Head Sommelier in maintaining an outstanding wine list and inventory. · Learn and provide recommendations to guests based on their preferences and menu choices. · Assist in organizing and participating in wine tastings and educational sessions for staff and patrons. · Collaborate with the kitchen team to understand and create wine pairings for special events and promotions. · Ensure proper storage and handling of wines, adhering to quality standards. · Contribute to managing wine inventory, monitoring sales trends, and optimizing stock levels. · Stay informed about industry trends, new releases, and emerging winemakers. · Uphold high standards of service etiquette and professionalism. · Engage in the ongoing development and updating of the wine program. Qualifications · Certification in wine studies or sommelier training. · Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a high-end restaurant. · Enthusiastic about wine and eager to expand knowledge in the field. · Strong communication and interpersonal skills. · Customer-focused with a passion for enhancing the dining experience. · Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced restaurant environment. · Capable of lifting and carrying wine cases, standing for extended periods, and moving comfortably in a restaurant setting.
