The Trail Host 3 (T3) is a senior staff member of the Summer Operations team. T3’s must understand and support the Sunshine Meadows operation as a whole, working with the team to maintain consistent standards, efficient workflow, and attention to detail on a priority basis. T3’s also bring areas of specialization to the overall Summer Operations team such as interpretive, ecological, historical, cultural knowledge and public safety skills and experience. Trail hosts are in a highly visible role, providing an outstanding experience for guests enjoying the Sunshine Meadows. T3’s escort and provide assistance to guests, ensuring safe, and enjoyable visits with a minimal environmental impact. T3’s work under the Summer Operations Supervisory Team, provide leadership to the Trail Hosts 1’s (T1) and work closely with all guest services and other operational departments. Key Responsibilities Day-to-day monitoring of guests and the designated trail system providing environmental, historical and cultural information related to the Sunshine Meadows. May lead hosted walks, describing points of interest, answering questions, and supplying information. Providing emergency responses including first aid, wildlife and weather situations. Participating in lift, gondola, and self-evacuation procedures. May be asked to participate in facilitation of movement of materials by helicopter longline. Performing light trail maintenance and keeping the Interpretive Centre tidy, secure, and organized. Ensuring outhouse stations on the trail network are clean and stocked with supplies. Providing leadership to the Trail Hosts where appropriate, ensuring duties are carried out safely and effectively. Assisting with organization and delivery of guest programs, and product development. Selling lift tickets and Hosted Walks. Reporting changing weather and unusual operating conditions. Conduct the Bi-Weekly Audit, the BRIM Study or other required monitoring tasks when assigned. Help deliver training in department policies, procedures, wildlife conflict protocols. Requirements Post-secondary education is an asset. Must be over 21 with a valid drivers license and clean drivers abstract. First Aid and CPR/AED training is required. Varied and extensive experience hiking in the Rocky Mountains. Previous experience with a leadership role in outdoor, recreation and tourism-focused workplaces. Mature, positive, and friendly attitude. Must be neat, punctual, and dependable. Passionate about providing an excellent service experience. Able to work effectively under pressure during emergency situations. Patient, able to exercise good judgment, make sound decisions, and work independently. Communicate effectively to groups, and on a VHF radio.
