The Banff Canoe Club is hiring for summer!

We offer canoe, kayak and stand-up paddleboard rentals, plus guided Big Canoe Tours in Banff National Park.

We are recruiting Canoe Dock Attendants and Tour Guides for the upcoming summer. Our season runs from mid-May to early October, with training beginning in early May. Some positions to start mid-May, others to start mid-June; all after completing the mandatory training at the beginning of May.

Staff typically work both roles, guiding multiple tours throughout the day and assisting with rentals in between trips on the river!

To apply for this job, you must be in the Banff area and familiar with Banff National Park.

Duties Include:

Assist guests with canoe, kayak and stand-up paddleboard rentals.
Provide excellent customer service.
Deliver basic canoe instruction and guidance.
Accurate recording of sales and cash handling.
Ensure canoe safety practices are strictly adhered to.
Ensure procedures (waivers, membership) are understood and completed correctly.
Assist with customer complaints and resolve client issues.
Ensure equipment is maintained and kept in good working condition.
Clean and maintain a tidy dock and cabin.
Sell merchandise, concession items, and reserve tours and packages.
Guide tours, providing an informative and engaging experience and educating guests about the history, wildlife, and geology of the local area.
Communicate effectively and clearly with tour groups of varying sizes.
Lead tours in a professional and organized manner, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all participants.
Maintain a high level of customer service throughout the tour, ensuring a positive experience for all guests.
We are looking for individuals with the following qualities:

Friendly and positive, with exceptional customer service.
Work well individually and as part of a team.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Physically fit and willing to work outside in all weather conditions, for long periods of time.
Basic computer skills and ability to learn new POS systems.
Ability to learn local knowledge and willingness to share with guests.
Strong communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and confidently to large groups of people.
Able to commit to the whole summer season and work different shift patterns.

Job Requirements:

Valid Standard 2-day first aid and CPR certificate
IGA basic knowledge online course (to be completed before May)
Familiar with Banff National Park and a willingness to learn more!
Training provided for successful applicants:

Paddle Alberta Waterfront Instructor’s certification 2 day (provided by Banff Canoe club)
Swift Water Rescue course 1 day (provided by Banff Canoe club)
Big Canoe Guide qualification 1 day (provided by Banff Canoe club)
