Lift Operations - Operator I

Lift Operators are in a highly visible role and provide an outstanding experience for guests via the safe and efficient operation of ski lifts. Operators are focused on guest safety, efficiency, and being approachable and courteous toward lift passengers. Lift Operators report to the Lift Operations Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor, and under the guidance of Lift Forepersons and other senior personnel in Lift Operations and Maintenance.

Job Functions
Constant monitoring of guests and designated lift system.
Engaging with and assessing guest needs and expectations, and modifying operations as required while adhering to operating procedures e.g. starting, stopping, end of operations.
Provide an outstanding guest experience by directing guests on and off lifts/conveyors in a safe, efficient manner.
Administrative and Reporting Responsibilities:
Completing designated daily checks, assigned logs and checklists, recording faults, daily lift reports.
Reporting changing weather, unusual operating conditions.
Timely and accurate incident and deficiencies reporting to appropriate departments/personnel.
Other duties may be requested and assigned from time to time.
Experience/Requirements

Prepared to work flexible schedules (weekends, holidays).
Prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Calm under pressure and patient.
Communicate effectively in English, both written and verbally.
Maintain professional conduct when in uniform, on or off-duty (and online).
Effectively provide training, support and assistance to coworkers.
Attend and actively participate in meetings and training.
Effectively and professionally liaise and communicate with others.
Must be neat, punctual and dependable.
Additional Considerations
Employees must always be of sound mind, exhibit good judgment, and report to work fit for duty.
This position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time, constant trunk rotation, occasional lifting of equipment and removal of snow and ice (up to 20 kg). Operators may occasionally climb ladders or inclined stairs up to 5m.
This role operates machinery.
Operators may work at night and are in a remote, alpine environment.
Ability to ski or snowboard is an asset, but not required. Skiing or snowboarding for work requires completion of a competency test, skiing and riding professionally, and is restricted to designated runs.
Skiing or snowboarding equipment used for work must be in good operating condition, meet Sunshine Village Equipment requirements, and will be tested throughout the season.
Required uniform pieces (liner, jacket, pants, toque) are provided. Operators must be prepared and wear appropriate footwear, gloves, layers, etc. for the conditions.
This role is subject to all terms and conditions of the Sunshine Village Employee Handbook and Policy Manual, and the Alberta Employment Standards Code.
