Description
The Handyperson provides support to the Building Maintenance department with respect to all building maintenance related needs within the Sunshine Village facilities.
Handypersons are focused on safety, efficiency, and being approachable and courteous. They conduct inspections, maintenance, and repair duties. Handypersons report to the Building Maintenance Supervisor, liaising frequently with operations, other maintenance departments and contractors.

Job Functions
Assist/respond to all building maintenance related issues or needs (sites included buildings and lifts at the resort and the transportation Hub in Banff) including inspections, working on disassembly, assembly, routine or annual maintenance.
Administrative and Reporting Responsibilities:
Completing documentation e.g., daily checks/reports, assigned logs, maintenance logs.
Communicating any unusual operating conditions.
Timely and accurate reporting of all incidents and deficiencies to appropriate departments/personnel.
Other duties may be requested and assigned from time to time.
Experience/Requirements
Carpentry/painting/plumbing/drywalling/general building maintenance.
Positive, and friendly attitude.
Able to work effectively under pressure and manage stress.
Prepared to work flexible schedules e.g., weekends, holidays, nights, extended hours.
Prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions e.g., appropriate footwear, layers, gloves.
Communicate effectively in English, both written and verbally.
Maintain professional conduct when in uniform, on or off-duty and online e.g., social media, email.
Effectively provide support, training, and assistance to coworkers. Including apprenticeships in trade.
Attend and actively participate in meetings and training.
Must be neat, alert, punctual and dependable.
Able to operate UTV, snowmobile, vehicle (must hold a valid AB motor vehicle license), or other industrial equipment, power/hand tools e.g., drills, saws, wrenches, hoists.
Own a set of basic tools relevant for use in building maintenance.
Additional Considerations
Employees must always be of sound mind, exhibit good judgment, and report to work fit for duty.
This position requires the ability to frequently stand for long periods, constant trunk rotation, lifting, pushing/pulling of equipment, parts, and tools (up to 45 kg).
Capable of using specialty equipment related to the trade.
Must be able to hike and move around easily in a remote, alpine environment.
Accessing/working at heights via ladders/stairs is required. Routinely up to 5m.
Uniform pieces (liner, outer jacket, outer pants, toque) are provided.
Candidates may be required to provide their own transportation to the resort.
Candidates are required to provide and maintain CSA approved safety footwear.
This role has some exposure to industrial chemicals e.g., solvents, oils, grease, chemicals.
This role can lead to an apprenticeship.
