The Transportation Assistant Supervisor is in a highly visible role and assists in maintaining a high-functioning work environment, providing an outstanding experience for guests and team members via the safe, reliable, dependable, and efficient operation of the Resort’s bus system. The Assistant Supervisor reports to the Supervisor (or designate). They liaise closely with third party providers, contractors, and all Resort departments.

Job Functions

Assisting with overseeing the training, work, and actions of employees of the Transportation department in conjunction with or in the absence of the Supervisor while maintaining a positive department culture e.g., planning, scheduling, operating, housekeeping, assisting with maintenance. Attention to detail in critical aspects of operation is required e.g., preventive, corrective.

Administrative and Reporting Responsibilities:
Timely and accurate documentation e.g., training, certifications, preventative maintenance, ridership/equipment statistics, work site inspections, safe work plans, government requirements.
Assisting in maintaining effective schedules and properly assign tasks to meet business needs.
Assisting in interviewing, hiring, and terminations.
Communicating and adhering to company initiatives, policies, manufacturer requirements, relevant legislation, e.g., OHS, SV Handbook, Traffic Safety Act, Canada National Parks Act, municipal regulations.
Timely and accurate incident, unusual occurrences and deficiencies reporting to appropriate departments/personnel.
Ensure department functions are successfully completed in a timely manner.
Other duties may be requested and assigned from time to time.

Experience/Requirements
Proven ability to lead a team, be self-motivated, effective time management.
Be at least 21, possess a valid AB Class 2 driver’s license, with Q endorsement. Able to provide clear driver’s abstract (3 years minimum history) and suitable driving references.
Demonstrated experience driving in winter mountain conditions.
Willing/able to perform all duties or departmental tasks e.g., housekeeping
Positive, mature, and friendly attitude along with being neat, alert, punctual and dependable.
Prepared to work flexible schedules e.g., weekends, holidays, nights, extended hours
Prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions (appropriate footwear, layers, gloves, etc.)
Calm under pressure and patient.
Effectively communicate in English, both written and verbally, and in a confidential capacity.
Maintain professional conduct when acting as a company representative on or off duty, and online.
Effectively provide training, support, and assistance to coworkers.
Assist in conducting, attend, chaperone, and actively participate in meetings, training, and team events.
Computer skills an asset - experience with Microsoft suite of programs and online payroll/HRIS systems.
