What will you do in this job?:
Process high volume timekeeping information and biweekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees. Primary emphasis will be on Canada time & attendance.
Manage workload to process payrolls in a timely manner and with accuracy.
Prepare special payments, payroll deductions, standard pay and other calculations ensuring compliance with company policies, federal and/or state and provincial regulations.
Assist location-based accountants, payroll assistants and time managers with questions, concerns or requests regarding payroll.
Reconcile payroll and validate confirmed reports prior to submitting payroll for closing and dispersing.
Understand proper taxation of all employee payments including employer-paid benefits.
Review payroll documents for compliance with policies and procedures.
Verify accuracy of data entry and computations of withholding tax, deductions, and overtime compensation.
Identify, research, and resolve payroll related discrepancies.
Stay current on regulatory, legal and other payroll developments to foresee and/or address payroll initiatives and issues.
Process off-cycle check payments according to company policy and legal regulations.
Prepare employee payroll-related documentation for scanning or filing. Ensure records are maintained according to record retention requirements.
Prepare stop payments, void checks, direct deposit reversals and overpayment collections in accordance with company and legal regulations
Complete journal entry and reconciliation tasks as needed.
What skills and experience do you need for this job?:
An Associate’s Degree in Accounting is desirable.
A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in payroll processing is required.
Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
Experience working with ADP Workforce Now and eTime experience strongly preferred.
Experience in both US and Canadian payroll processing is required.
Experience with year-end and Canadian ROE processing desired.
MS Office and fundamental computer skills required.
Experience across various industries such as seasonal hospitality – hotel, resort, travel is preferred.
Experience working with multiple locations preferred.
Experience working in a publicly traded company preferred.
Accounting experience to include journal entries and reconciliations preferred.
